No, if you have a target visit and extend an offer you don't tell them they have to hold off. If they wouldn't take his commitment last Saturday, then he isn't worth about an offer in the first place. Teams get in trouble taking secondary (or worse) recruits.
I don't know how else to say it the staff viewed him as their top sit out transfer early and they wanted him perhaps over Bolton. Fans need to come to terms with their view of a player off a highlight tape isn't our coaches view.

We'll see how Johnson turns out but Goodman tweeted that he talked to a coach who said he has NBA potential, JJ has talent and isn't a "fallback". Plus he had a Arkansas visit scheduled this week. this thought process also assumes Bolton ends up coming to ISU, which isn't a given,

BTW scholarships have a way of working out in the end if Bolton commits and LW wants to return.

Agreed. With these guys, if you make an offer, you want them to accept it on the spot. And if Wigginton comes back, they will make a place for him.

I wonder how sure of a thing a G league spot is for LW

It isn’t...at all. There are about 50-60 GL players who sign a two way contract every year...As it sits right now I’m not so sure LW would get a GL contract...Then he’d have no choice but to go overseas..once there the odds of coming back are very small.

I hope for LW that he makes the right move if there is one..tough decisions. But if he comes out of GL camp without at least a good chance of being on a GL roster then I’d think he would strongly consider returning to ISU.

To be honest. I think it's either Bolton or we bank it. I don't see any high scoring options left in the transfer market. Now one could come along late but right now with what is out there. I don't see anyone better than Bolton or even close. So in my opinion it's Bolton or we possibly (zero percent in my opinion) Get Wiggy back.

I think it is Bolton or we would see if anything opens up with players backing out of draft but transferring in the process as well.

We didn't even know Bolton was a serious option 10 days ago.
I assume the staff is in contact with other targets who are waiting on NBA decisions either their own or others to see what rosters look like. There could be a couple of options that become officially on the market in late May. (Not to mention the Wigginton chance of returning a slight possibility). Prohm may end up banking it but I'd be surprised if Bolton goes else where we don't see additional visits set up.

LW is just in a really tough spot right now. He didn't improve his game much this year, so to most scouts he's a known commodity.

Given he's not even a top 100 guy right now, even getting a G league slot could be tough.

Selfishly, our team is set up just perfect for him. We have bigs and complementary pieces and he could be the go-to scorer. Can Prohm get him to be a better defender? Can he improve his decision making, even if its only a few possessions as a PG?

Right now, LW is just not good enough to be a pro. He needs to improve. The question is just where he wants to make that improvement....

It would be great if Lindell came back if he isn’t going to get drafted. I’m not sure I buy it but it would be the best thing for him and us.

But he’d have to be committed to winning and the team.

The only other option I can see is if Michigan hires a coach and all hell breaks lose and kids start transferring or wanting out of there commitments. Much like Grill.

The carousel isn't over. Not only Michigan recruits but whoever they hire, say it's LaVall Jordan, now maybe Butler recruits open up their commitments too. Spring is fast paced but surprisingly long drawn out.

Michigan only has two commits
6-8 215 lb SF #50 overall
6-7 180 lb SF #105 overall

I dont know if ISU is in market for those type of players considering our current roster makeup

I don’t see any players on their roster that would be obviously eligible for a grad transfer

I do not know if it is so much we would want a Michigan guy, but it might be the knock-on effects from whoever Michigan ends up hiring (and whoever the first victim then turns around and victimizes for a replacement working its way down the chain).

Looking at that list, Jaevin Cumberland jumps out to me as a want. He just visited Michigan and got an offer, but that may change with Beilein leaving. Probably too late to get involved though

Here' a Detroit News article from last week, prior to Beilein news. Chances probably are still low, but decision on coach might shake it up. And he may prefer staying in that general region (went to HS in Ohio, I think). His shooting numbers definitely fit the profile for ISU's need.

That is my only concern. I would definitely take him back if he decided, I would just be worried he'd be out there for him rather than the team.

I was kind of thinking a scenario that someone get's hired at Michigan leaving some players commited to their old school. Say Missouri's coach get's the Michigan job (Just an example), then we could poach Mizzu.

I thought he really matured toward the end of the year, would love to have him back obviously. Also, he needs to break the career "fouled on three point attempt" record, if he hasn't already ;).
