In the Lakers' penultimate game of the regular season today, they had both AD and LeBron back and dispatched of the Pacers, 122-115. Even so ,there's still a role for Talen off the bench and he had a good stat line: 25 MIN, 11 PT, 3-5 FG, 2-2 3PT, 3-4 FT, 1 REB, 2 AST, 1 BLK and no TO.

THT is going to end his first full NBA season with a 9 points per game scoring average.

The usual THT driving lay-up with >4 twists, turns or pumps:

The Lakers are tied with Portland for the 6th spot in the standings but I believe the Blazers have the tie-breaker, meaning that it's very possible that LA will start the defense of their title with a play-in game vs. Golden State.

Here's THT's full highlights vs. the Pacers. This is the final day of the NBA regular season still with a lot to settle in regard to the standings. Hope every eligible Cyclone player stays healthy and is ready for the postseason.

With the regular season ending, I thought it might be interesting to look at our guys' final stats for the year in this 72-game season. LA, Denver and Utah are in the late games here are the two that are out with injuries.

I'll start with Abdel Nader, whose season seems like a disappointment, only because he was playing so well before his injury:

Abdel had career highs in ppg, rebounds per game, FG% and 3pt%, all of which had previous highs last season. Dooley is an unrestricted free agent and put out some good film for interested teams this year.

I doubt Tyrese Haliburton will win the Rookie of the Year, but what a first year he had. He led all Cyclones in the NBA in scoring, in both ppg and total points and assists.

Ty will be back with Sacramento next season outside of the very unlikely event of a trade.

Utah breezed to an easy win over the Haliburton-less Kings in their last game. They finished with the NBA's best record) and will have to see who comes out of the 6 to 10 play-in game (they may be secretly hoping to avoid the Lakers). Georges didn't start but out 3 for his first 3 and was at a +13 in his first 3 minutes in the game. He cooled off from the field and finished with this line: 19 MIN, 10 PT, 3-7 FG, 2-5 3PT, 2-2 FT, 1 REB, 1 AST, 0 TO +10.

Matt Thomas
played 3 minutes and went 0-2 from the field.

Speaking of the Lakers, THT is seeing fewer minutes with LeBron
back in the lineup. LA beat New Orleans but still ended in the 7th slot and will begin defense of their title with a game against Golden State. Talen's line: 14 MIN, 6 PT, 2-6 FG, 1-2 3PT, 1-2 FT, 1 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL and 1 TO.

The Nuggets lost - tanked? - against Portland. They have the #3 seed in the West and a tough series against the same Trail Blazers awaits them. Monte seems to have gotten enough minutes to help with his rust and conditioning without pushing the limits too much. He had an efficient, Monte-like line: 18 MIN, 8 PT, 4-7 FG, 0-1 3PT, 4 AST, 1 STL and 0 TO.

Regular season stat summaries, of the old-fashioned variety.

For the season, Monte Morris was back to averaging in double figures and started 13 games:

Talen Horton-Tucker started 4 games and had the 2nd-most points scored of the Cyclones in the NBA, after Tyrese Haliburton.

With 10 points in his last game, Georges Niang ended the season with exactly 500 points. He had career-bests in scoring, 3PT %, assists and rebounds. He also fouled the most. Georges played in every game this season for Utah, the only Cyclone to do so. He just missed out on averaging 7 ppg. He also started 10 games this year for the league-best Jazz.

Matt Thomas's combined Toronto-Utah stats are below. He had quite a drop from his 48% 3-PT shooting last year, especially in his time at Utah:

Here are Monte's plays for last night. To me, he looks like he can contribute in the playoffs again. Denver seems to have been very careful in bringing him back slowly. Good quick first step on a few of these plays and he finishes at the basket way better than maybe he should, given his size:

I checked up on how Marial Shayok's season went overseas and it seems like a mixed bag. He was a mid-season replacement in January for ex-Jayhawk Mallik Newman on Turkey's Bursaspor (known this year because of its sponsor through the poetic name of Frutti Extra Bursaspor). Bursa is a big city in the Eastern part of the country and Bursaspor is a pretty big club with a (more important) soccer team. The Turkish league is good and has produced a number of NBAers including Niang's teammates Eliasova and Bogdanovic.

Marial only got to play in 12 games in out of about 30 as he came in late and seems to have been hurt for a few late in the season. But he mostly started and had by far the highest PPG at 18.9. Bursaspor played in the Eurocup competition but I think Marial was ineligible due to joining the team in January. He only shot 32% from 3pt so it may be hard to make the leap to the NBA this year since teams would look at him as a 3-and-D wing.

Check out this buzzer beater by Shayok:

This contested shot will look familiar to ISU fans:

The NBA hopes to have a summer league in mid-August and I'm sure Marial will try to show what he can do there, if possible. He's a good ball player; I could see him making a roster but the NBA is just so competitive.

He is good but stuck without a position, I'm afraid.

Not so sure. He has the size to be an NBA wing; he can guard multiple positions. But he needs to shoot the 3 better than he has. And cut down on turnovers. But I see his ceiling as a Nader-type role for someone. Maybe I'm wrong but that doesn't seem implausible to me.

Knock on wood. Georges and other Cyclone players please stay healthy and I can't wait to see y'all do big things in the postseason.

BTW, Georges has scored in all of the last 30 games (since March 22).

Here's Georges' full highlights vs. Kings.

Here's THT's full highlights vs. Pelicans.

Any chance Georges will use his free agent leverage to try to influence them to lose those green uniforms? Probably not but I can dream.

Watching him, his release is so quick now.
