I don't really know much about collegiate softball. Is 22 and 5 not worthy of a ranking? If you're a power five basketball team 22 and 5 should be ranked.

This year's ISU softball team has been ranked as high as 20 in some rankings early this season. Right now they are on the outside looking in (26-30 range). If they won one of the three games against OU next week, they would most definitely be back to the top 25.

How has our competition been up to this point?

They have had a decent schedule so far IMO. They are currently 3-2 against P5 teams and 1-2 against ranked opponents. They have beaten teams they are supposed to beat except for a couple of them. Now the Big12 regular-season is on deck. Let's see if the team is up for the challenge.

Well folks this coming weekend is your chance to support ISU Softball in person Fri@4, Sat@1, Sun@Noon. The SB field is out by the Towers, just to the east of them.

Edit: I'm not sure what the covid rules are, it's outside so I would think tickets are available.

Keeping from getting run ruled will be a successful weekend. This OU team is the best hitting team they’ve ever had! That’s saying something!!! Now they don’t have a Paige Parker or Ricketts in the circle.
If the Cyclones could somehow take a game from OU that would be huge. If they finish 4th or 5th in Big 12 great season. Cyclones can beat Tech and Kansas.

You need to look no further than this to see why softball and baseball have always been a struggle at ISU. Look at the home records. ISU has done this without playing a single home game.

55 straight games away from Ames, since the pandemic killed off 2020 before the home slate started.

Imagine football only playing 2-3 home games per year. That's the rough equivalent.

It is easy for me to say since I am in Minnesota and couldn't really help, but it would be nice if there could be an organized big turnout for their first home game this season. They have certainly earned some recognition and appreciation.

4 pm on a friday doesn't help turnout, but 1 pm Saturday and 12 Sunday are decent times

Because of my work schedule, the friday game is the only one I can attend. I'm thinking hard about driving down to it depends how the work day pans out.
