I'm not a huge horror guy but I'll vote on what I know!
I've seen exactly 2 of these, and I voted accordingly. I enjoy these tournaments and appreciate that went into making it, it's just not my genre.

I voted, survive and advance to Rd 2!
Forget the comedies...
THIS is MY genre!!!
Truly good (or cultishly bad) horror is nongenerational.![]()
Sorry rulzzz. Haven't seen most of these, or its been so long i dont remember. I did vote for saw tho, cause that ending made me rewind.
I feel like the shock value of gore is lazy. The really brilliant horror films IMO are the ones that fill you with a sense of dread. As much psychological as blatant horror.I loved the old slasher movies of the 70s and 80s. Grew up on those. Some were jump scary and some were almost comedies with a bunch of gore. But things changed in the 2000s where the movies turned to actually scary and sometimes pretty disturbing. I haven’t gotten into that much.
Not necessarily. I have seen some slasher flicks that have a great storyline and they are not just about the kills. But I get your point. The newest Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie is a good example of what you are saying. The kill scenes were excellent, but the story was dumb. One of the worst horror movies I have ever seen.I feel like the shock value of gore is lazy. The really brilliant horror films IMO are the ones that fill you with a sense of dread.
