You guys are funny. I wouldn't dream of switching from DTV to Dish but then again my position is a little different. You will never get anywhere calling the 1800 normal number for either service and expect to get anywhere with them on price/package upgrade deals as they are call center employees hired by both Dish and Directv to take the mundane questions and problems like "My TV says no input". At which point the mindless gnome goes down the checklist given to them to follow. Anyone with a brain should know the tv is on the wrong input or the input connection has a problem, but they will still have you push the red button, hard reboot the receiver, check signal strength in the menu even though you can't get to menu because the TV is on the wrong input etc..... Just call the 1800 number and ask to get transferred to retention during normal business hours. That will normally get you to a person that can be talked down as they are an employee of the company, not some call center lackey with minimal ability to adjust anything. Sometimes, if call volume is high, you will get bumped right back to another lackey though. Best of luck. The longer you have been a customer the more likely you are to get an upgrade on gear or a break in price. If you are the classic deal jumper and have always talked your way into the promotional deals year after year, you are gonna get less of a break.
