You are kidding me? Mediacom cable internet sucks. I've had Qwest for over a year now and only had 1 major outage in that time and no speed issues. Whenever I've called them about something I didn't get a BS answer and got great customer service. Mediacom I got some of the worst customer service outside of probably when I had US Cellular. I'd wait on hold forever then some idiot who had no clue would tell me there were no outages and try to schedule one of these noon-5pm time frames for someone to come out then maybe a few hours later or the next day the internet was back up again. Qwest also costs much less. What is Mediacom up to now $45-$50 a month? I locked in for life at $27 a month. Yeah it's 1.5 MB download but I actually get better speeds when I test it than I did with Mediacom when I had their 6 MB service and I don't notice a difference.

I've been pretty happy with Qwest, and the cost is what really does it for me. I was paying $10 a month for dial-up, before switching to DSL at 26.99/month. I bundled Directv when I added DSL and saved $15 off my total bill. So basically I upgraded from dial-up to DSL for $6.99/month.

I have had multiple dealings with Qwest over the years both for business services and personal. I won't go into details because the post would scroll on for about 10 pages, but I have never in my entire life dealt with a more screwed up company in my life.

Call Qwest and sign up for the price for life guarantee. you have to agree to a 2 year commitment with a penalty to disconnect early. But the cost is reduced to $26.99 with a qualified home phone package or $31.99 w/o.

I changed mine back in January.

How in the world have you people gone without my charm, commentary, and razor-sharp wit?

Well, first I cried, then I poured out part of an Olde English 40 oz. in the street, set off some bottle rockets in memorium, and held a candle light vigil. Then I prayed to Odin for your return from Valhalla. That last one seemed to have worked the best.

Yeah...they advertise that price for life to death. We're on it and are saving some good money. Bundled our DirecTV with 'em also to save even more.

Yeah not sure how you missed that the first time. They've been advertising it pretty hard for the past couple months.

It's one of those things, you have the service already, and I figured it was just a "for new customers" type thing.

All the ads for it say for new residential customers only, however, they changed me over to it without question.

Connecting to CycloneFanatic

What happened to th eearlier thread about people having trouble connecting to CF?? It seems to be gone...

Anyway, ISUFAN22 and others gave some advice to fix the problem. I have tried everything. Ever since I switched to Qwest DSL at home I can't access CF. I am beginning to think there is a squawk fan at Qwest programming their DSL modems... aargh!!!

Glad I'm not the only one having connectivity problems to this site. I cannot connect to this site using my desktop PC, which is running XP through cable internet from Mediacom. Neither Firefox or IE can get the site to load. I have done the DNS flush multiple times and have reduced my security and firewall settings down to nil, but still nothing.

Originally I thought it was the Netgear wireless router I had installed recently, but I bypassed that and hooked the PC directly to the cable modem and still nothing.

I went a couple of days of not being able to connect, thinking the site was down, when I finally IM'd ISUFan22 to see what was up with the site. He told me it was up and fine, so I tried loading it from the laptop for the hell of it and it loaded fine. The laptop runs Vista and gets its signal from the wireless router.

I can't get the PC to get to the site at all. Not even occasionally. Tough for me to believe that it is anything with the PC, as it doesn't have difficulty loading any other sites.

That scenario is very strange ISUAlum2002. Clearly this isn't just a Qwest issue, seeing how you are a Mediacom subscriber.

I wonder why type of home networks the others with connection issues have. It could be something to do with that, the old network somehow caching the old IP information (before the last server move).

It's not impossible for this problem to be on CF's end. Yet I would think more users would be having the problem then.

My connection problems started after the server move. I never had any problems before. My setup is very simple...single computer, no wireless connection, no network. I seem to be connecting more regularly the last couple of days, but there have still been outage periods on those days. I have tried turning off my firewall, the DNS flush, switching between Firefox and IE, and screaming at the computer. All have been equally ineffective. I just hope this is resolved before football season. I will be living at the library accessing their computers.

Another problem for me that has cropped up within the past couple of weeks...I can't edit any posts on my home Win2KPro/IE6 computer. I can create posts, but when I click the "edit" button, the web browser just hangs with the little rotating circle icon. No problems editing from my WinXPpro/IE7 computers. I've flushed, rebooted, etc.

I've got Time/Warner-formerly Comcast-formerly AT&T-formerly @Home cable internet service. At least I get a new email address every couple of years, which prevents spam from finding me for awhile...
