You're looking at anywhere from $6-$8 depending on how much it weighs. I'm guessing it weighs no more than 40 pounds. Certificate of Recycling is included when you drop at our site.

I just moved and had this dilemma. I took all my stuff to here:

www.ewasterecycle.com

Click on the DSM facility, then on the map. Very helpful and friendly. They took 2 monitors, 3 towers, and also all my old peripherals. Most of it for free. It is just north of Sam's Club in DSM. Go up to University, then take a left (west). It is only a block or two, then turn left again (south). Facility is behind the first building, it is a seperate back building. Hope this helps.

Our other website is located here:
Midwest Electronic Recovery

We accept all electronics. Everything is free except CRT monitors. (Less than 23" screen is $5, larger than 23" is $10)

"Recyclers" frequently resell the CRT's which can end up dumped in oceans or rivers in third world countries.

All of our CRT's are destroyed using an Andela Machine. AndelaProducts.com

The glass is sent to to Canada to be destroyed due to the lead and phosphorus in the screen.

I've taken lots of stuff to Best Buy. The one in Marion will take almost anything electronic. I've dropped off old DVD players, routers, desktops, and monitors.

I alway remove and smash hard drive first. (Lots of videos available.)

A couple of years ago, Goodwill started to accept any computer in any condition. If they meet certain criteria, they are refreshed and sold. Otherwise, they are recycled. I cleaned out a closet with four computers in various conditions with no problem over the past couple of years.

Yep I do this for work all the time. I had about 10 crt's that i dropped off from a project a week ago. The bigger stuff like copiers and tvs I tend to take to a veteran run electronics recycler down the street. But yes, goodwill is the way to go.

Check Best Buy. I think they will take the monitors for $10 but you get a gift card. Also, I think they recycle computers but won't take the hard drives.
