So if Leech was going to end up around 20th prior to the injury...

...does that mean he would have eclipsed Brackins, THT, Thomas, and Wigginton?

Obviously this does not really matter much, but I wonder how far up our upside play is here.

A lineup of something like...

Nixon
Horton-Tucker
Leech
Jacobson
Lard

...the year after next already sounds nice.

Should be an early signee in November, which is before the start of high school basketball if I'm seeing that right. It's hard to imagine having some blue chips come calling if he's not playing much until after that. It's also going to be really hard to convince him to not only accept a late push by a team that hasn't been involved, but also to betray Coach Prohm's loyalty.

The 2019 Draft doesn't have a lot of good freshmen so Wigginton's best chance to go first round is probably after next year. I'd say he's gone. If THT has a great year he may be gone too. If those two leave early we probably had a really good year, which is what everyone wants. If we want to be a shade under blue blood elite we are going to have to start accepting one-(or two)-and-done's as a possibility.

It's hard to speculate, but if he ended up at 20, he would be above all but Brackins I believe.

No doubt about it he should go next year. Need to get Halliburton and Nixon ready, plus hopefully a good freshman in Tandy.

I appreciate the effort you put in. I spent some time looking for archived rankings from back then. All that I could find (aside from the above) was that he was a third team Parade All American—which, at ten men per team, would have put him somewhere in the twenties.

I do remember how Marcus rose through the listings, because at first no on knew about him. Even when he made the McD’s AA team, I thought he was right on the edge, and the difference maker was that they were announcing the game being in Ames the following year.

Thanks again for the work!
