Back about 20 years ago weren't ISU games shown on something called ESPN+, just made available through local channels like KCRG in the CR area?

So this is basically going back to that in a new digital way except it will include some sort of fee for the user that doesn't have the channel via Mediacom etc.

A big step backward for me. Currently watch games on my tv due to mediacom carrying cytv. Now have to watch on my phone?

I can't imagine that Mediacom is happy. But, hey, I don't think anyone else will shed a tear for them.

Yep, I remember the KCRG Cyclone ESPN+ games. KGAN would have ESPN+ for TOE too.

You can watch ESPN+ on a variety of platforms. Get a Chromecast and then you can watch on TV. Just use your phone to cast it. Same thing works for Cyclones.TV currently.

One thing not discussed. How will the subscription price work? I imagine I will have to bend over for ESPN+ instead of paying 34.95 for 3 months directly to cyclones.tv. It seems to me like they are just re-directing the audience into their over-priced plans. Now if you tell me YouTubeTV or PSVue will allow ESPN+ in its basic subscription then I am happy.

Another plus for out of towners is the availability will be better. I would imagine either the current ESPN app would have the espn+ games available with subscription or a separate espn+ app would exist that is available on all platforms, unlike the Cyclones.tv app which currently only has an app for roku that I’m aware of. This will be better than using my amazon’s browser or casting from phone to tv for the first football and basketball games.

"Disney launched the streaming ESPN+ service in April 2018. The package, which does not require a cable or satellite subscription to watch sports, costs $4.99 a month or $49.99 for the year."

Okay, I am fine with this unless it changes. One disadvantage is now I might not subscribe to cyclones.tv. I don't want to subscribe to 3 broadcasts, cyclones.tv, ESPN+, and either YoutubeTv/PSvue.

If they use the same local staff for announcing the game, as they say, that would be awesome.

What about the women’s games that are now on Cytv?

Is it going to be the same camera crew doing the ESPN+ games as were doing the cyclone.tv games? Watching the video quality of the Drake game was brutal.

That was awful. I would hope with going to ESPN+, some of the money is spent on production upgrades.

I can't imagine ESPN would allow someone to put their graphics on a production that poor.
