D2 has a lot of talented players in it and for those thinking the workouts will be so much easier you are mistaken. We have all seen Yancy's treadmill workout which is cool but trust me when I say there are top tier strength and conditioning programs at D2, NWMSU is one that has a top tier program.
And trust me when I say football at the D2 level is a physical and mental grind just like D1. D2 players put in just as many hours with workouts, practice, training table, study table, PT, travel, etc. as D1. The only difference is we don't have huge multi million dollar facilities for it. Instead you are in a building sharing those areas with the basketball team, baseball team, etc. Nice facilities just not football specific. Is there more talent at D1, absolutely, but to act like D2 teams are junior high teams is crazy.
I can't argue on the one hand that our strength and conditioning program is so much better that it is a big factor in attracting D1 recruits from other schools, then on the other hand argue that it really isn't that much different at a D2 school, even a good one.
As I read the article on Yancy recently, I wondered whether some guys who really love playing football might be turned off by all the discipline related to strength and conditioning.
