No. Prohm was worse and it’s not close IMO

Wayne Morgan didn’t, at the very least, get tossed on the Phantom 3. That in itself should put him as the worst coach at ISU.

Give me an example how Prohm is worse than McDermott or Morgan over his career ant ISU other than “I felt like he was”. I get his last year was the worst winning percentage ever, but overall he had more success than either.

It is unfathomable that a coach could go 2-22 at ISU with what was a reasonably decent team.
He needed to do a much better job holding teams’ feet to the fire with Jeff Beverly midrange jumpers and Merrill Holden sweeping hook shots. Immeasurable talent. As Spatola would say, “WET”

I will say whomever hires Drake coaches is on point. His mens basketball coaches hires.Jenny down at Oklahoma has them top 5.
He's a hell of a coach. I follow NWMSU too and they were lucky he stuck around as long as he did. I was surprised he took the Drake job. Maybe with NIL money it's a decent mid-major job now. For years it was a terrible program though.

And Lickliter was National Coach of the Year at Butler too. ;) Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

If forced to hire one tomorrow to coach at ISU, who do you hire?

Hiring/extensions, aka betting on future success, is largely heuristic.

Wayne wasn't going to be a long term solution, but the glorified streetball was at least fun to watch
He didn't run the program into the ground either. It was like watching Orr's teams except with better players. At least Hilton Magic still was a thing when he coached. Blaylock and Stinson had the place rocking.

I was a teen during the Stinson/Blalock years, and it was a lot of fun to watch.

In retrospect I do have a bit of a beef with Wayne for not getting that 03-04 team to the tournament.
Stinson, Blalock, Sullivan, Vroman, Homan, Jefferson, Staple. Missed opportunity.

They couldn't play D or win on the road. He had more success with that group than LE had though. Tim Barnes leaving school probably cost the team a few wins. I'm not sure there has ever been a quicker player in ISU history. Great ball handler too. A veteran PG was really what that team lacked.
