Awesome news. Wonder if his buyout for other schools changed at all? Wasn’t it around $10m?
iirc the detail was if another school was to hire him. They would have to play the contract 100% in full to Iowa State. Which at the time came out around 10 mil. Details hasn't been released on the deal but if they keep it. TJ will have something a lot larger than 10 mil.

Cy Town may take longer than you think. Lots of "economics" for the athletic department in the next several years will need to be addressed.
My understanding was the majority of the cost to the AD was for the initial parking and infrastructure work, which is basically done.

Also - with the players sharing the profits, schools have less money for buyouts . so not sure buyouts have to be as big now as in the past.

Pollard turns 60 in February. Not sure many realize he's that old already but like someone else already mentioned I suspect he retires around the time CyTown is completed or near it. I think he did an interview on KXNO last year and mentioned he wasn't too far away from retiring as after his heart attack he wanted to make sure he gave some time back to his family eventually. I don't expect Jamie to still be the AD probably even 5 years from now. He definitely will go down as the most successful AD at ISU and all the facilities upgrades that were done during his time will leave a long lasting legacy.

If I were Jamie, I'd announce my retirement in 2 years while at the CyTown ribbon cutting.

Jamie retiring very soon would shock me now. Got football and basketball locked up
He want to see the Cy Town deal up and running before we walks away, the man has spent too much time and energy to get that project going to walk away before it is completed.

My original comment was for other schools to buy him out of his contract not for Iowa State to let go/buyout TJ. Iirc his current buyout was like second highest in CBB.

Jamie will turn 60 in February, and will celebrate 20 years as ISU Athletics Director in September. He is also 10 years removed from a heart attack, and 3 years out from a bout with testicular cancer. He could decide to hang it up at any point, and will leave behind a massive legacy at Iowa State.

In 2 years? At the current pace they'll have the contractor mobile offices and worker porta potties in place by then. Not a bad backdrop for a retirement celebration.
