Franchise owners Justin and Jennifer Jones of Lincoln, Nebraska, plan to open about 20 Raising Cane’s restaurants in Iowa in the next few years. The franchise company, called Southern Hospitality Ventures, opened its first Iowa store this week in Council Bluffs.

I know there are a few around KC, but I've never been to one. It looks a lot like Slim Chickens, which is decent for what it is. Has anyone been to both that can compare the two?

Haven't been to Slim Chickens, but I'm a big fan of Cane's. They only have four options on their menu; three of those are chicken strips and the other is a chicken sandwich. I always tell people it's a good place to go...if you like chicken strips. Their sweet tea is also very good which is hard to find in northern climates. The dipping sauce for the chicken is tasty, as well. It's some sort of spicy mayo/ranch sauce. I recommend if you like chicken strips and aren't looking for anything fancy.

We stopped somewhere in Kentucky and had it on a road trip this summer, it was good, the sauce was delicious.

They sound pretty similar. SC is mostly strips (and a bunch of sauce options), but they also have wings and sandwiches. I know they offer chicken and waffles, too. I think they were a little pricey for chicken strips, but the one time I ate there I liked what I had.

We just got a few in the Denver suburbs. It's pretty good. Sometimes there's nothing better than some good chicken strips.

I prefer Slim Chickens, but then I'm not wild about the Cane's sauce. Since they only have the one sauce, it is pretty much a make it or break it thing.

It's good, but I still prefer either Chick-fil-A or Hardee's for chicken. Problem is that if you only do one thing, you better do it better than everyone else. They don't.
