Couldn't agree more with everything you said. This year is the culmination of a deep talented roster coming together. We lose our two best players, Lindell and THT might decide to test the NBA waters, although its blatantly obvious neither of them are NBA players and would likely waste away in the D-league if they left after this year.

Kansas will have everyone healthy next year so should be back to normal. I don't think winning a conference title in 8 years is too much to ask with the talent we've had under Hoiberg and Prohm, but the sad reality is we arent even close to winning a Big 12 title.

We had a legitimate shot this year with Kansas struggling, but of course we come out and lose to a team that had just lost its last 3 games by 18 points on average, and hadnt won a road game against a ranked opponent since 1998.

Add all this up and its complete disappointment to say the least.
TCU actually won their last time out before yesterday.

Also, the rest of this take is pretty shortsighted.

Not sure if people have focused on this but Cam Lard was exceptional yesterday as
far as effort. He will need to excel at a high level in the next few weeks.
Agreed, effort was amazing from Lard. Only gripe is he got abused a few times too many in the 1-5 PNR- as did Wigginton. I imagine that is something they will really work on this next week of practice before KSU.

Also, after rewatching the game it was clear how many close, missed ISU layups there were. It seems like the frustration on offense (combined with TCU often answering with difficult shots and getting long offensive rebounds) really demoralized ISU's defense. THT played like a freshmen yesterday too.

TCU deserves credit for playing an "A" game, but nothing about yesterday necessarily surprised or concerns me about ISU moving forward. Disappointing, yes, but I think these games forces you to re-focus on improving on your shortcomings with an eye on bigger goals.

Against Oklahoma State at home by 2 points, on a last second shot. Their previous 3 road games they lost by 26,19, and 10. I guess whatever makes you feel better about the most embarrassing loss in recent memory.

I've been a Cyclone for 40 years, and have loved every minute of it. With everything we've been through as fans, I'm constantly surprised how poorly so many of you handle a setback.

This team was picked for last in the conference. It has been a pretty special year, no matter what you think of the play yesterday.

Pull your **** together.

This team wasn’t picked by anyone to finish last.

So.... before last night we had a good shot at the Big 12 title, but now according to your post we really are “nowhere close”?

Because it still feels like we’re prettttty close.

Worst game this season, even worse than Iowa. No excuses, got their asses kicked in all phases today. No fight or fire or pride.

Days happen where you are not at your best and figure out a way. We’ve done that the last week. Sometimes it’s just not there. They got deflated.

Agreed. These are 18-23 year old amateur basketball players, not Navy Seals - they aren't always going to carry out their assignments with precision. I don't like the excuses, particularly fatigue - TCU on the road in frigid February Iowa had more reason to be fatigued than ISU. It was simply a bad day at the office...

Postscript: I graduated from ISU in 1986, so I've been "kicked" more often by Cyclone-related athletic trauma than most of you; sure we're disappointed, but the sun still came up this morning...

Didn't the ESPN announcer say he watched the end of the week ISU practices, and all they were working on was pick and roll defense? Yikes.

I don't expect the younger generation to know this...but do you know what I liked about Johnny back in the day?
After a terrible loss he would come on the air after a game to talk to Pete Taylor. (Like the coaches do today with John Walters after the game.) And Johnny would apologize to our fans for the terrible performance that they put out there. I know it will never happen now but wouldn't it be nice for Coach Prohm to say sorry to CyclONEnation when a performance like we witnessed yesterday happens?

Fred always did it with his better teams if he lost. Steve has done it a few times as well. In my opinion whether CSP wants to be at Iowa State and knows what he has for a fan base have never been an issue.
