4/10/25 Update

Health Update – A Tough Turn, But Still Moving Forward

We wanted to share a development that’s thrown a bit of a wrench into things. Jeremy’s neurologist—an essential part of his care team—is abruptly retiring during a very critical time. This will force us to start over with a new neurologist at a different practice and within a different healthcare network altogether.

As you might imagine, this is more than a simple switch. It means re-establishing a new baseline, going through fresh evaluations, and trying to communicate Jer’s history and progression to someone who doesn’t know him or his case. It’s exhausting and a bit scary.

The timing couldn’t be worse. The Disability claim process is scheduled to take place after Jer’s neurologist has left and possibly before a new neurologist is in place. That means he may be without a specialist to speak to the progression of his condition during a critical part of the review. It puts some very important matters at risk, and we’re doing our best to navigate it—but it’s added a lot of stress.

We’re keeping our heads up and taking it one step at a time. As always, thank you all for your kindness, generosity, and continued support. It truly makes a difference in this fight.

Warmest Regards,
Jeremy and Rhonda

Surreal moment - As of 4pm today, I am officially unemployed for the first time since I was 15. All completely expected and part of the timing and process moving through STD and LTD. Still, another one of those feelings when you know a door has closed and locked behind you for the last time in your life.

And yet you're not facing a stone wall with no way forward. And you're not alone.

Progress News and Final Update

Hi everyone,

We wanted to take a moment to share some important news and offer a heartfelt thank you. Your kindness, generosity, and encouragement over the past months have meant more than we can say. Every message, donation, and show of support has helped carry us through some incredibly challenging times—and we are deeply grateful.

Given the complexity and specifics of Jeremy’s symptoms and the progression of his Parkinson’s, we’ve been referred to the University of Iowa’s Advanced Neurology Center. This next step is significant, as it brings new hope for more specialized care and insight into managing this disease as it evolves. We’re optimistic about what this level of expertise might offer, though it comes with its own emotional weight and considerable logistical challenges.

This will likely be our final update here. While the road ahead is a steep climb and uncertain, your support has made it feel a little less lonely and a lot more possible. Thank you for standing beside us, for lifting us up, and for reminding us that we’re not walking this path alone.

With love and gratitude,
Jeremy and Rhonda

That scooter as bad ass. we just need to pimp it out with ISU gear

We were blessed that a work friend of my wife had it available. Unfortunately, they bought it for her dad but he passed away about 2 weeks after getting it. It’s perfect though because we have trails out here so I can drive with the kids on the scooters to supervise them at the pool and parks this summer and not feel every tiny pebble of a normal one.

Just a quick update as a few have reached out regarding my absence from the site.

It’s been a few months, and much has changed, so we thought we’d give an update with the good and the bad.

Health-wise, things continue to progress as before. Cognitive issues are more frequent, while the physical issues are becoming more severe, especially with regard to mobility and tremors. The mobile electric scooter has been a great help, while the kids have really taken to helping Dad get around as well.

Bad days are more frequent than good days, but we take each day as it comes. While it doesn’t feel worth it most days, giving the kids a big hug every night makes it so.

The kids and Rhonda are doing great. Isaac and Eli are growing and developing so fast it’s hard to keep up. They’re learning in real time about making every dollar matter as we’re unable to do those fun summer activities we’ve traditionally done. While young and engrossed in video games non-stop, they always find time to help out. They’re sweethearts and know family is number one.

Unfortunately, Rhonda continues to have to take on more and more, but she’s the engine making everything work and holding us together.

Financially, things are pretty rough. With the loss of primary income and prior debt, it gives one a new/fresh view of what is really important. We cashed out most of our retirement IRA to get by, so going forward will be interesting.

We’re still battling with the insurance carrier (since May) to get our LTD claim approved. At this time, assuming we get our approval next week, we’d start getting disability payments at the very end of August.

As always, your love and support have made a world of difference.

Haven’t been on the site but a couple times the past few months due to the pain, stress, and whatnot but am looking forward to fall football on the tv.

Hate to say anything, but while it’s been dormant for several months, the GFM is still open if anyone is interested. No pressure or guilt, I completely understand.

Love y’all, Go Clones!

We hope and pray your summer is going great, and you’ve been able to enjoy the nice weather with family and friends. Thank you all so much and have a great rest of the summer!

Thank you for the update, Jeremy. I’m glad to hear LTD should be kicking in soon. Donated to hopefully help a little until it does.

Used to work for Social Security. I assume you've applied for disability there as well. Hang in there.
