Without Grill’s perimeter defense presence, Otz Might try more of the 1-3-1 zone. K-State is not a big 3 pt shooting team (currently 263rd in nation in 3 pt attempt rate and 108th in 3 pt % at 35%) and forcing them into 3 pt attempts could be a good strategy. Ward can definitely make an impact playing the top of the 1-3-1 zone.

Well you went ahead and did it now. :p

Just as long we don't Fran them and have these guys play hurt and not have them play again that season.
I'm pretty sure there was some bad blood between Caleb and Coach Prohm because Prohm played Caleb through a broken wrist through the last few weeks of his freshman season here. I'm guessing TJ's putting this decision into Vic's hands.

Probably biggest known 'superbowl' moment in the rivalry. Injured player comes in for one game the entire season clearly just trying to hurt people or draw technicals on star players.

OSU dude who hadn't made a three pointer in Big 12 play and other OSU dude who was shooting 20% (both of whom made two threes against us) say hi

KState's a fine 3PT shooting team. 35.2% as a team is good for 4th in the Big 12. Their two best, high usage players shoot 36.8% (Nowell) and 40.4% (Keyontae Johnson) from three. Those two account for almost half the team's 3PT attempts.

no kidding....that was the turning point of that game I thought....OSU made 4 consecutive 3's, and on what I thought was 4 consecutive possessions. Plus we hit a drought.

who guards Johnson? Is Gabe tall enough? Or does Gabe have to guard Nowell?

In the second half OSU made 10 field goals. 2 layups, 2 deep twos, and 6 threes. 5-6 threes in the second half were contested too. Also, 2 of those made three pointers were by a guy who had yet to hit a shot behind the arc in conference play. That's not even bringing up the 2 they banked in in the first half.

They also banked in their first two if I remember right?
oh my gosh, that's right. Talk about annoying. Good defense til almost end of shot clock too.
When I think about all the 'just about' went ins near the basket with Osun 2nd half/Robert 1st half and few lay ups late that just fell off the front of the rim.....man, we left alot of points on that floor. Almost seems like the stars aligned for the Cowboys. LOL

Additionally (pretty sure it was 2nd half), got gifted 3 FTs when they called Lipsey for a run-out foul on a 3, he barely touched the shooter, didn't alter shooting motion in any significant way. (i think that also was FTs with the lane violation, to boot)

Yeah that was a weird call. You can bring up OSU shooting 28 FTs to our 12 too. However, with all that being said we missed some critical ones at the line down the stretch, couldn't get the key stop we needed, and missed a good look to win the game.

Grill was the sacrificial lamb so Prohm could get his record up to 4-14 that year.
Well, that was twice as many wins as the next year without Grill, so . . . . . FIRE UP THE GRILL!!!
(If he is able to go, don't risk it if in doubt).
