Barring foul trouble, I think Cyclones slow the pace, pound them inside, win by 8-10.

But then, I predicted a 70-58 win over Okie State.

Aside from his O, Grill has been a pretty nasty perimeter defender as well. He does a lot for the team. Hopefully someone can step up into that role. Tough with him and Jaz both out.

He's probably also our best rebounder (fundamentally). Teams not having to account for his shooting is also a big loss. I think this is a big opportunity for Tre King to continue to ascend and play some big minutes.

Grill loathes K-State. He's from the state. He'll play if wearing heel to neck brace. Kid is uber competitive.
He'll play if his back allows him. If his back is still painful or in spasm, he won't be playing just because he wants to.

Back pain is so individual. Everybody's story, if you've ever had it, is different. Of course there can be commonality. All depends on what kind of injury it is.

I wouldn't be surprised if he plays, or doesn't play.

Hoping for a speedy recovery, of course.

That's why he should just take the shot, play until the shot wears off. Rest in the off season.

Like like the UGA WR McConkey in the NC, took the shot for his knee. They knew it would wear off around the 4th quarter so tried to get use out of him until then.
I don't think it's common to give athletes an injection to the low back, just so they can play after an acute injury. There is too much at play and greater risk of further injury. You would also need to know exactly what is causing the pain, muscle, nerve, disc(s), or a combination, and I don't think that is the case yet. It's too early with his injury. It needs to run a more natural course. I'm sure he is getting top care and advice.

I could be wrong. But if I was a doctor (neurologist or orthopedist) specializing in back pain (which I'm not) I would think it's pretty risky giving an injection(s) to the back (epidural or anesthetic block) after an acute injury, in order to play a game or two. It's just not worth it.

Would love a further opinion of a doctor on this.

Surprised to see we are still 6pt favorites, that’s a good chunk of points for a solid KState team. I would have guessed half of that.
The metrics kind of hate Kst. Idk why exactly.
Without a ton of gambling interest to start with, the line will reflect the stats.

Sounded like TJ was a little annoyed with Randy’s goofy question on team injuries with Caleb and Jaz. Must get old for our coaches to deal with a guy who is so poorly prepared and unprofessional.
Idk if anyone else saw it last week but Randy Peterson fist bumped Tyrese Hunter on his way back to the locker room after the game was over. It was so corny lol

Tough news but gotta get Caleb healthy. T. King, Watson, Ward be ready to get some extra minutes. Gabe, Lipsey, Holmes gotta stay out of foul trouble.
This is a big oppty for Watson to step up his perimeter defense game. He’s shown flashes of it in the past and it would be huge for the team if he can match Grill’s defensive productivity against K-State’s elite perimeter players.

And Ward in some way maybe.
Without Grill’s perimeter defense presence, Otz Might try more of the 1-3-1 zone. K-State is not a big 3 pt shooting team (currently 263rd in nation in 3 pt attempt rate and 108th in 3 pt % at 35%) and forcing them into 3 pt attempts could be a good strategy. Ward can definitely make an impact playing the top of the 1-3-1 zone.

Obviously wish we were at full strength but it’s set up pretty well for us coming off a close loss, playing at home, #5 KSU basking in glow of their fans sizing up the NCAA championship trophy case they’ve got locked up, but this will be their toughest road game by far. Potential to really punch them in the mouth tonight if ISU wins the clash of styles.

I’d feel a lot worse if the situations were flipped, we had won that close one at OKSt and were @KSU with them coming off a close loss.

CBB is largely a guards game, and losing one of the very few serviceable ones we have is definitely not a good thing. Hard to feel like it's a win even at home. It's not impossible, but it will require Gabe/Holmes to go off and Lipsey to have a very good day (and stay out of foul trouble...).

While this sounds good we need to apply Iowa State logic. Someone will have a career game with seven 3s and the team will shoot 50+%
