I'm going off my memory here but didn't Zion play center at his high school because he was the biggest guy on the team? And the main reason he got attention at all was because his AAU team switched him to a wing and all of a sudden he got scholarship offers.
While the injury obviously didn't help but Zion is probably still learning how to play wing.
Yeah he had always had to play center at his high school. His AAU team didn't have much of a center either so he jumped in and played that on that team. He then switched positions to a more natural position and killed it. Got tons of offers, even Kansas Offered. Reminds me of Bob Johnson, Mr. Basketball in 1987 from Des Moines Lincoln. Played Center his whole high school career, showed up at Iowa State being 6'4 6'5? and had no skill to play what he needed to play. At least the coaches saw Zion play a different position.
