If THT and Wigginton are gone, and there's not a real good grad transfer coming in, then the tournament is not an expectation. Making the tournament would mean they exceeded expectations.

Yeah, without THT this is going to be another rebuilding year.

Class balance is nice, but things change quickly in college basketball. There’s a great chance it will be down to 3 by the time this class are seniors.
While I agree with the class balance aspect, it's hard to win games with 5 frosh. I assume there would be an effort to get some experienced transfer(s).

It’s also hard to get talent this time of year. Do the coaches feel good about the chances of landing two immediately eligible transfers that are better than either? Assuming we have three available, we’d be lucky to land Grill, Nadolny, and a decent grad transfer. Having a class of 5 freshmen is largely a sunk cost at this point.

Young, Haliburton, Conditt, Nixon.... Man there's still a lot of talent!

Agreed. we will be young, but if the staff adds in some nice pieces for next year to complement the core, we should be pretty decent. Some of it will depend on how ready the freshmen are as well. I think this year showed that freshmen can certainly be impactful if used the right way. Even if THT and Wigginton are both gone, I am optimistic about next year and our chances to finish top half of conference and get to the tourney.

I think people shouldn't sleep on Lewis and Griffin on the wing. They're both talented and look the part - its just a matter of playing time and the game slowing down for them. One or both of them could be a huge surprise next year. There could be a lot of playing time available at the 3.

I am hoping Zion just had a bad freshman year because he started out injured. Hope he has a Naz type sophomore year. The one thing I didn't understand is why we didn't redshirt him instead of just keeping him on the bench and using eligibility to not play. Wonder if he will be able to get a medical redshirt since he had an injury prior to the year starting. I doubt it.

i'm not a big believer right now in predictability/certainty. yes you need a minimum level of talent. but Ttech, OU and Baylor were picked 7-9 in the b12 preseason, and we know how those teams worked out this year.

He played the first game. Can't RS. Being on the bench doesn't exhaust eligibility. Medical may be an option but if it was pre-season injury and he played later in the year it would be a tough sell. I don't know what games he got in.

He played too much for a medical, including games at the end of the season. There were a few non con games, when there were so many injuries and suspensions, that he played quite a bit.

I'm going off my memory here but didn't Zion play center at his high school because he was the biggest guy on the team? And the main reason he got attention at all was because his AAU team switched him to a wing and all of a sudden he got scholarship offers.

While the injury obviously didn't help but Zion is probably still learning how to play wing.
