I haven't read this whole thread but really! I make about 20 different recipes of wing that are penny on the dollar of what you get out. They are better and the beer is cheaper and with my 42" screen everything is better! I will say I do love wings! They go great with the Cyclones and the Hawkeyes!

They've got a better Hot N Zesty sauce? Do they have kiwi sized boneless wings?

Ok, I'll give you the boneless wing size is bigger at West Cyde. Never had the Hot N Zesty. When's the last time you were at West Cyde? It has gone down hill considerably in the last two years. I used to think it was just as good if not better than BWW, but not anymore.

The only thing that has gone downhill at WCW is their service, IMO. The food tastes just as good as it ever did and I still have to hit the bathroom about and hour or so after consuming. I havent been there in a few months, but I have heard a few people say that they have been improving their service.

This is really the correct answer. I like wings, but they are horribly overpriced at BWW.

When's the last time you were at West Cyde?

We got 30 boneless wings to go this past Saturday for our Barnstormers - Pittsburgh gamewatch. I would say my household patronizes WCW once every 2-3 months.

We have had repeated problems with service that has caused us to go well over the allotted hour for lunch during weekdays. It's kept me from going there over lunch but we have been ordering wings to go or stopping in on evenings & weekends without problems.

The food however has always been consistently very good. I think their sauces taste better and you get more for your money.

You have to be ******* kidding me. They have Iowa **** on the wall, at the BWW in AMES ******* IOWA? I for one will never step foot in that place just because of that. What a joke. I dont mind BWW, but Ill give my business to the Ankeny one if I am really craving it.

They wouldn't have lost any business by not hanging the Hawk jersey. Uncalled for, aggravating, and pathetic.

Why is it so ******* hard for a business in Central Iowa to just say screw the Hawkeyes and be blatantly pro-ISU. NEWSFLASH: There are enough Cyclone fans in Ames that you don't need to appeal to Hawk fans to be successful.

They're comparable to the prices at WCW. Wings, in general, are a complete rip off. I wanna say it's $8.49 for 12 boneless at BWW and it's $8 for 10 at WCW. Traditional wings are a TON cheaper at BWW than WCW. Sides are also pretty much even across the board.

WCW has just been terrible the last 3 times I've went and I probably won't be returning now. Service sucked, the wings were served lukewarm, and they were in a lake of sauce. Terrible experience to the point I was driving to Ankeny BWW instead of 5 minutes west to WCW.

SNOB! SNOB! SNOB! How dare you question a nationally popular chain?

Filthy unwashed heathen.

I know you were being facetious here, but honestly I don't see how BWW can be overrated when it is clearly the best wing joint in Ames now.

WCW is OK quality, but their food is inconsistent and as many, even those who like WCW, have admitted, their service is terrible. Even if the food is decent, I'm not rewarding a business with ****** service with continued patronage.

I love Wallaby's and they have some good boneless "Hawkeye" Flappers, but it is not really a comparable setting. Limited bar seating, no really big TVs, more of a family atmosphere (we always felt out of place sitting and drinking all day at the bar area during away football games back in the day).

I go to BWW to drink beer, eat wings, and watch sports. If there was a good local place like that in Ames (think The Vine), I'd go there instead.

P.S. It does **** me off about the Iowa and UNI gear. I'll let the H. Barnes picture slide as long a he's wearing an AHS jersey and not a ******* UNC one.

True. Funny how the price of wing meat has gone way way up thanks to the explosion of wings places, when the original reason for wings at bars and such was that that was one of the cheaper chicken meats.

Wallaby's still has some of the best wings in town, New SMOKED wings are great along with jumbo bone in wings and many new sauces, Always our favorite, the boneless spineless Hawk wings , no boxed stuff here! all fresh.

Take it for what it is worth but what I like best about WCW is it is a pretty good place to drink and hang out. It's low key and locally owned. You very rarely must wait to be seated. They have a nice new 120 inch HD projection screen. Their boneless is actually freshly cut and hand breaded which is why it takes longer to get your food often times but at least you know they are fresh. Again they have very good drink specials. 5 dollars pitchers on Monday nights and you will be able to watch whatever game you want. Tuesday is wing night 44 cents for BONELESS and Traditional wings and 2 dollar bottles. Wednesday is cheap burgers and fries and 1.75 draws. Thursday- Sunday they also have 2.25 Tall Boys. While it is no BWW it has a lot of perks. It is nice to be able to drink and not have it be packed all the time. I'll continue to go to WCW because I can get the same boneless and wings at Applebee's and low key atmosphere that is going to a local guy unlike some chain that will never consider sponsoring anything Iowa State. That's just me. End Rant!:)

Just got back. Theres a lot of neon ISU signs and a Rahshon Clark jersey. There is a Ricky Stanzi jersey in there, but it's not in a prominent location where a lot of eyes will see it.

well it does go well with their color scheme.

I went there last night and to be honest I didn't see anything so spectacular about it. The Wings were average at best and tasted like I just bought a bag of frozen Tyson nuggets. The service was average and screwed up the order twice. I didn't see much Iowa State stuff there. I was on the bar side, but saw some MLB and local school stuff. The TV's are worth the trip and you can view them at all angles, but other than that just another place to eat IMO.

Glad I'm not the only one who is ticked off about this. Was starting to think it was just me!

It's a wings place... A national chain one at that.... If that has a chance to rock your world, wow. I honestly recommend going jogging or doing some kind of a stress reliever.

Is it annoying? yeah. It is life or death?

Me and a group of friend will be there Friday night to watch some basketball and hopefully see the Barnstormer game on too! Should be a good night!
