The whole premise was the ACC won't be there because the NC, FSU, Clemson, Va., Va. Tech and others are not wanting to make half what the SEC & B1G make. If there is an ACC its backfilled with Big 12 schools or the Big 12 adds leftover ACC schools later on.
ND isn't choosing a league backfilled with schools.
It also assumes the B1G gets NC, Va. & USC. The B1G has a lot of ND's games they traditionally scheduled in the past.
There are a few reasons why ND would go to the SEC over BIG, not all athletic. Didn’t the North Carolina legislature pass a bill that would allow the NC schools to leave the ACC and apply to the SEC over the bathroom bill fallout? When the ACC pulled the tournament from NC
If the SEC grabs USC, that’s big too. I think the SEC is in good position to first get USC, Clemson, and FSU. I think the NC schools plus UVa would follow at that point, with ND in alliance.
Msybe after the ACC football schools left, some of the ACC would be okay earning $40 million less. But Va Tech would jump, and at that point it’s a prisoners dilemma
