What next, endowment comparisons?

The SEC’s slogan, “it just means more” isn’t about yelling at games.
There is a reason they are the biggest brand in college football. There’s a reason they’ve always paid more for coaches, for staff etc (for players too). That same reason will manifest in the deepest NLI pool. I’ve lived in both areas, and the efficiency of extracting wealth out of their fans is so much higher in the south.

It’s like some weird cult and they’re all indoctrinated to support their teM
Because they care more about foosball than schools????

I do not believe Notre Dame will go to the Big 10. The institutional memory is long regarding Yost at Michigan and his efforts to destroy ND by getting other teams to refuse to play them out of his hatred of Catholics. Ohio State was not much better. Eventually led to ND playing USC and Stanford
If it's a choice between the B1G and the SEC I think they choose the B1G.

Since it sounds like we are runner stamping these 4 teams I think we go big for the next teams. I think we try to get Minnesota and like a northwestern.

Umm no. Arizona and Arizona St. or Colorado and Utah might be more believable. Really just depends on what their media negotiations are looking like, and if it’s bad and schools like USC and Oregon reach out to the B1G.

Otherwise it’s Memphis +1 if the Big12 continues to expand.

Notre Dame will never join the Big 10. They'll go ACC if they go anywhere. Notre Dame hates the Big 10 with a passion. If it's a choice between the Big 10 and SEC, they'll stay Independent. I could see them going SEC if they "had to join" one of those two.

I can't wait to watch Vanderbilt in the NFL-Lite league. I will just watch a crappy NFL team instead, like my Bears.

They will kick the vanderbilts of the world out of this league at that point.

Because Texas didn’t want to. They shot down adding Clemson and Florida St. They wanted TCU instead of Houston, or more OK with TCU but wanted no part of Houston.

The part about Clemson and Florida State isn't even remotely true, I'm just going to assume you are either drunk or high

You saying the networks aren't jacked for that Illinois-Cal matchup? Better call UCLA to see where they source their giant tarps to cover up empty seats. Throw KU in that mix and you've got some real barn burners. On one hand it would be cool to have the same league have 112,000 for OSU-Michigan and also have KU-Stanford draw 8,000.

Hardest hit will be Northwestern. Every home game outside of driving distance means a half-empty stadium.
The Alliance is fascinating. A handshake not to raid each other, BIG taking P12 teams really, as well as scheduling inter conference games, without SEC, to create better match ups. There is even talk of reducing conference games to make this happen. Is this a life line for the P12 into more CT and ET zone games? Aren’t they really talking about matching up the best 3-4 brands from each conference? Isn’t this an indictment of the value of the rest of the teams in those league? How is Illinois vs. Arizona any better than any league games?

Pollard recently said Pete Thamel was getting info from someone who promised confidentiality because Thamel was correct about most things. One of the things Thamel mentioned was an enlarged conference(maybe 16) and flexibility of scheduling with weeknight and also late night games. I wouldn't have thought the league would go to 16 but that might be a lot of why they will get more in the new contract than almost everyone thought. BSU & SDSU if going to 16 gives two more venues for late night starts.

Also, if the B12 is scheduling with the SEC at 16. Cities with large recruiting bases are attractive spots for the SEC schools to want to play(even if they already have tons of recruiting areas).
I hope they aren’t in a hurry to go to 14/16 the drop off from the new four to other options is significant. Also, I get nervous about offering ourselves up for weekday and night games. We’ve all seen the numbers for the best day, networks and times. Hard to build a brand and continue to push back against the low value narrative, if we are playing on Thursday nights on ESPN2.

So are we going back to the days of 4 noncon games?

I would imagine if it's 4 non conf there's some kind of major initiative for every conference to schedule two P5 games.

I figured we'd go down to 2 non conf games and 10 league games to ensure we max out our inventory for TV money and SOS for playoff picture...not that the Ohio State Committee ever actually considers SOS.

Playing 9 or 10 games with this league would instantly surprise people when it rates out as the 3rd or 4th toughest football conference at the worst. It lacks the perennial top 5 team but only KU hasn't had competitive teams lately, TTech flirting with that a little.

I'm fine with 10 league games for a while since the new teams seem like non conf games anyway and playing in Florida/Ohio is great.

Not necessarily..But i'd be willing to bet that the new Big 12 will do a scheduling alliance with the SEC. Big 12 will do what media partners think will make them most $$.

But i'd bet that Big 12/Sec scheduling will happen. OU/Okie st...Texas and A&M vs Houston or Tech, TCU etc..

Guessing it would be just 1 non conf game per team a year but that will help the TV revenue as well.

What I do like about the new Big 12 is the conference will now have alot more openness and flexibility to do things..

And if this all ends up being a "business as usual" ploy until UT and OU pay their settlements, then the Big 10, Pac 12, and ACC invites start rolling in, then boy are these four schools ****ed over.

Not saying this is going to happen, but I'm not taking it off the table, either.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if it plays out like this. I don't think all 8 will bail...but I can see 2-4 finding a home somewhere in the BIG, PAC or ACC.

I live in Raleigh. No tobacco road school will ever leave the ACC barring it's collapse. It's not the same mindset as other schools have. This is THEIR conference. duke, UNC, NC State will never separate, and they won't leave the ACC
And they are so basketball centric, most folks don't understand.

Before FSU joined the ACC, the ACC Champion was going to the Citrus Bowl - which was an improvement on usually going to the Gaotr Bowl (at best) before that. With a rare Maryland @ Cotton in 1976, Clemson @ Orange in 1981 and Virginia @ Sugar in 1990, the ACC seldomly sent a team to one of the 4 Traditional New Year's Day Bowls (Orange, Cotton, Sugar or Rose) in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Something tells me that the Tobacco Road Four would love a smaller North Carolina centric ACC AGAIN with the Tournament in Greensboro every year.

Pollard is calculated. Now reread what you wrote and remember that.
