Start Wigginton in place of Haliburton for his offense and especially his rebounding, but also for his aggressive play. The long season seems to have worn Haliburton down, or maybe he’s lost confidence in his shot or maybe the conference caught up with his game after the first go-around. His shyness about shooting enables defenses to focus on bigger Cyclone offensive threats. It seems to me that our offense works best with three initiators on the floor, Shayock, Horton-Tucker and Wigginton, and Jacobson in the post.
I agree with this as well and because Lindell is a good rebounding guard. Need to set a rebounding tone right at the start.

Does anyone else think Lindell needs a different type of shoe? He falls down more than any other player I've watched.

He needs better body control. On lots of drives to the basketball, he starts leaning forward and gets his weight in front of him and this is when he starts to lose control. Needs to drive and stay more straight up.

It would be nice to get a crew that calls it tight. Baylor loves to shove underneath the hoop. Vital should have had 4 fouls in the first half in Ames.

It would also be nice if our guys actually jumped for rebounds. Wigginton jumps, but he's a guard. Jacobson jumps, but he has a 20-inch vertical. The rest of them wait for it to bounce into their hands. Gotta think Prohm is focusing on rebounding in practice this week.

We've put Babb on Mason in the first two games. I'd think about moving him on to Butler, but I doubt we do. One thing we can't do is put Wigginton on Butler. I've never seen a guy lose so many shooters in a season. Prohm is going to have to actually coach in this matchup. That's scary right now.

This got me thinking... who is our lockdown defender this year?

I'll hangup and listen, thanks.

Babb is clearly the best perimeter defender when he's locked in/healthy, but as you're hinting, that's not saying much. Mason was 4/18 in the last meeting.

I forgot about Gillespie killing us at Hilton. I'm guessing we'll see plenty of Conditt. Wigginton has been putting a lot of effort into rebounding the last few games. We'll need all the help we can get inside.

It was comical how badly we lost rebounds to them, I wouldn't even call it rebounding because that implies a ball above the waist. They were better at picking up a ball laying on the ground, enough so to be the reason we lost both times.

It's weird because on his jumper he has perhaps the best body control I've ever seen.

He is better at drawing fouls on 3s than Reggie Miller because his baiting looks more natural.

I'll preface this with saying, I highly doubt it happens, but if there was EVER a time this season to play two bigs, it's gotta be Thursday. I know, it completely changes the offense, and has not been done for a single minute this year, but maybe it's time to send them out there, and just say "go play basketball." According to some, that's how Prohm coaches anyway.

I really have no clue what the deal is with Lard. If he's available, he's likely still on Prohm's short leash, so now's the time to use him in short spurts alongside Conditt and Jacobsen.

My preference would be to still start Jacobsen, and play Conditt and Lard together for a short stretch. Play them with Shayok, Wigginton, and NWB so that hopefully the offense doesn't lag while they're out there.

I'd play Conditt as much as he can take. Better rebounder than Lard, who is always out of position due to trying to block shots. Although, I suspect Lard has played his last minutes for ISU already...

Agree with having everyone crash the boards like crazy, we dont' fast break off missed shots anyway - only off turnovers.

I'd also give Wigg about 38 minutes, and cut down on THT and NWB. Lately Wigg >>> THT. Nick looks like he is playing on my knees at this point in the season.

I DO think this is a game ISU can win, if they want to.

I tend to agree with you re Cam Lard.....and I also think the Clones can win this game if they shoot a good percentage....and remember GO Cyclones!

"SLEEPER: Iowa State (+650)
My love affair with Iowa State is well-documented this season, and I can fully admit that I may be the wrong guy to ask this question to. I know they’ve lost three in a row, five of their last six and six of their last eight games. I know that there was some kind of fight in a practice and that there was some kind of an argument between players during the loss at West Virginia. But I just cannot quit this team, because I still believe that they are the most talented team in the conference.

There is a very real chance that Iowa State loses their first game of the tournament to No. 5 seed Baylor. But their path isn’t really all that difficult. The Cyclones, if they can get past the Bears, would then draw either No. 1 Kansas State — who they beat by 14 points in Manhattan and who will not have Dean Wade playing — or someone from the 8-9 game. The Cyclones also have wins over both Kansas and Texas Tech, the top two seeds on the other side of the bracket. At 6.5:1 odds, that’s great value."

I think they beat us by 5 points or so. They rebound better and Drew is a better coach at this point than Prohm. I like Prohm but Drew's teams rebound. We don't. That will be the deciding factor in my opinion.
