Jayhawk fan here: MU was our main rival (in a hatred way), but it's kinda nice that they are gone. I think it was getting out of hand. KSU has always been a rival but its not nearly as intense and more friendly.

I don't think most KU fans would see ISU as a rival. I think you guys are going to be good for years to come with Hoiberg, but throughout the Big 12 we've seen teams rise and fall. In the early years it was ISU, then Texas and aTm were good, KSU bounced back, now Baylor, OSU, and you guys are pretty good. We've had very good, competitive games with all those teams. But I don't think that just having good games between us makes us a rival. For years on end we beat KSU in bball, they beat us in fball, but the rivalry was still there.
I was just in Kansas City and my family got hell from Kansas fans for an ISU shirt. The Kansas fans at the big 12 tourny also seemed to show a special kind of disdain towards us.

Kansas and K-State are the two obvious ones. Okie State is kind of a friendly rivalry. West Virginia has a lot of potential.

oSu - ou
ou - ut
baylor - tcu
k-state - kansas
isu - kansas
ttech - ut
wvu - no one yet

seems to me cy and the dirty birds are getting it on a bit of late. what's the sense here? you'll note that rivalries often go one way and thus may not be shared, e.g. ttech -ut. i doubt the horns consider tech their rival over ou.

B12 rivalries include;

OU/UT
KU/KSU
OU/OSU

I see no reason for any others to blossom. If Fred is here for his entire career maybe there's one with KU. As long as KSU can count on beating us there's no rivalry there. As long as ISU fans can't imagine life without UI that will be our only rivalry.

Personally I want to beat KSU most but I'm one person.

I agree. If we can get a couple wins in football I think they might come close to being our rival. Bball has been pretty even. Even though the football games have been close we need to win them. I could easily see WV become one for us. I'm already sick of them talking about how good they are and how good the Big East was. Even though they were bad last year I still got the feeling they somehow thought they were awesome. Also who could forget the football team and Wally. I don't like them.

For football, we have Farmaggedon with KSU. Maybe WV in the future but there's no ill will felt towards them yet.

For basketball, KU is our biggest, but I think there's a list of other schools including KSU, OSU, and Baylor that may keep heating up.

If we have tight, entertaining games this year to build off how legitimately ****** off ISU fans are about last year, I think there's a good chance it evolves into more than the "flavor-of-the-moment" rivalries you described.

For Iowa State I would definitely say football is ISU/KSU and in basketball ISU/Kansas and maybe KSU

KU does not consider KSU as a rival. They would take that as the supreme insult. They will tell you that they are better than KSU and list numerous reasons why. Their only interest in KSU is in keeping little brother down. Sound familiar?????
You give yourselves too much credit.

We have no interest in KSU. None. Zero. You are that guy down the road the conference makes us play but we would just assume play someone important. Your two decades of "dominance" over KU on the gridiron still hasn't got you remotely close to tying the football series and the basketball series is a joke.

KU lost its rival in MUtard. So if we have to get a new one, in hoops Id prefer ISU or UT if they ever get back on track and in football, well, Im thinking Blind Sisters of the Poor might be a good start. We'll work our way up to Fordham and eventually form a rivalry with someone in the Big 12.

UT/TTU is also something of a rivalry, and TCU/BU is one as well.

But ISU does not have a rival in the Big 12 and won't any time soon - in football.

As others have mentioned, ISU/KU could become the premiere basketball rivalry in the conference if Fred keeps ISU on an upward path, but we would need some serious success to be able to make that case.

Iowa is ISU's one and only rival for the time being. Not good, not bad, just the way it is.

Our rivals are iowa and ku in bball. kstate and iowa in football. we may build a fb one with wvu, but that takes time.

Is there such as thing as "Time" in the present world we live in?

I have been so damn busy this summer I have lost track of what is going on in the world of ISU sports... Am I now one of the "bad" ISU fans??
