Where can one get a good bacon cheeseburger pizza? I used to think they sounded gross (pickles on pizza?) but once I tried one, I am hooked.
Tried Mabes in Decorah for the first time last summer. Don't get up that way very often. Wanting to try something different, I had, I think, Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza. Fantastic!
Speaking of Pizza, what has happened to Pizza Hut. At one time it wasn't bad pizza, well the pizza still isn't bad but they all seem to be poorly managed.
We've been getting the thin Denver crust sometimes now, it's a nice change of pace with the same flavor.Does Great Plains tear up anyone else's mouth with all that thick crust? I wanted to love it but I just didn't. It was impractical.
I haven't tried many of the places listed here or have a favorite but haven't seen either of these places mentioned. Both are in Nevada.
-Georges,their sausage and mushroom is awesome
-Alleys, the Italian Classic is very good as is their taco
Casey's Taco
Great Plains is terrible
Need to add Old Chicago to the list
These are both great options. I miss the George's in Ames, too - I wish they wouldn't have shot themselves in the foot so many times. Alley's also had great alfredo pizza, and some pretty solid chicken/bacon/ranch.
I do like Wig and Pen's flying tomato crust for deep dish. I wish Ames had some good cracker-thin crust, nothing has been very solid since George's left.
We do a lot of "best pizza" threads - I think it would be a good idea to do a "worst pizza" thread. I'd have to go with Pizza Pit's pizza.
One of my peeves is when you order "thin crust" from a place and they bring out a something that's basically their normal pizza with 1/4 the dough. In my view, thin crust is like you describe it, cracker-thin. Crispy. Rigid. It's a totally different style.

The Wheelhouse in Ankeny

Must be a woman thing with not liking Pizza Pit, I love it but my wife hates it.
It is a thin crust pizza. They have some different types like an egg roll, gyro, and mediterranean. Their wings are also good, they don't have a fryer so they are rotisserie cooked.I just drove by there yesterday and wondered about it - it looked similar in style to Wig & Pen? Would you describe them as similar?
Falbo's - Iowa City
