It is a thin crust pizza. They have some different types like an egg roll, gyro, and mediterranean. Their wings are also good, they don't have a fryer so they are rotisserie cooked.

Ooh, that is interesting. We'll have to try it. Ankeny seems to have some pretty solid pizza options.

Has anyone tried the new pizzas at Okoboji Grill? They have stuff like a crab rangoon pizza, but I just am having trouble bringing myself to try it.

I love pizza, so I was really excited to see this today!

My favorites are Great Plains, El Fredo's in Sioux City, Centro in Des Moines, and Woody's Pizza in Estherville. They each have their own special traits. Great Plains is about as unique of a pizza there is, and it's an Ames icon, but I can see why people might not like it. El Fredo's is just a good, solid, cheap pizza. Centro has great brick oven pizza with fresh mozzarella and that chewy, sweet crust with bits of char on it. Woody's has outstanding thin crust pizza, and though it's not the best I've ever had, it's the best I've had in Iowa.

Must be a woman thing with not liking Pizza Pit, I love it but my wife hates it.

I actually like Pizza Pit. My freshman year my roommate and I ordered it every Sunday night. I still crave it at times. The last time I ordered was 2 years ago when my hubby and two older girls were out of town. Yum.

The one thing I may miss about my 3 years in Iowa City is Gumby's Pizza. That stuff was so bad it was good, if that makes any sense.

Speaking of Pizza, what has happened to Pizza Hut. At one time it wasn't bad pizza, well the pizza still isn't bad but they all seem to be poorly managed.

I will probably get bashed for this, but I've had some very good pizzas from the Hut. Love the thick crust and the thin crust, but the hand tossed is just too chewy and tough for my liking.

They dropped them long ago, but I used to love their Barbeque pizza.

I really depends on the location and operation. It seems like the eat-in ones are better than the to-go only places.

And the pizza on the lunch buffet just sucks in my opinion. Dry, flavorless, and no ingredients.

I could make a pizza at my house way better than any pizza made at Happy Joe's by simply putting a Tombstone frozen pizza in the oven. That place is pure ****. ****!

Haven't read the whole thread, but has anyone had Jerry's Pizza in Sioux City? Probably my favorite.

Few usernames fit the person better than yours. Derp.

1. Tomasos- Detroit Crust in Cedar Rapids (nothing comes close)
2. Wig and Pen- Flying Tomato Crust in IC

Most Overrated
1. Great Plains
2. Zoeys in Marion (although I still really like it. Tomasos is way better)

One thing I forgot to mention in my above post which would be an absolute shame not to be included in this thread at all is the separate breakfast pizza category. Casey's breakfast pizza is simply one of the best things ever created on the face of this earth, and when comparing to others, no other breakfast pizza should even be considered. If they weren't terribly unhealthy for you and money didn't matter, I'd eat a bacon slice every single day for breakfast.

Mine. It is a Whole wheat honey crust, covered with homemade sauce, black beans, grilled blackened chicken/portobello mushrooms and tons of mozz cheese. When finished it is about 2.5" thick.

Can I change my vote? This thread inspired me to get a pizza from Wig and Pen in Ankeny and it's the best deep dish pizza (**** anyone who says it's not pizza; I don't care) since I was in Chicago in July 2012 (Lou Malnati's). Haven't been to Zoey's in a few years, so it might not be a fair comparison. But damn, this pizza is nice.

If you ever get to Dubuque, don't miss Marco's Restaurant at 15th? and Central Ave. I've eaten pizza from all over the US and Canada -- theirs is my favorite. Word has it that they have the best broasted chicken too, but I ALWAYS get the pizza.

Pizza in Council Bluffs suckes. If I had to pick my favorite, It would probably be Pizza King or Barleys. I had the Other place for the first time ever last Thanksgiving, and cannot believe that it is getting votes. I thought it was terribly over rated!

Casey's Breakfast Pizza (bacon) is legit.
Crust I like Pizza Huts thin crust. Really crispy.

Omaha- Roman coin pizza and Zio's are my favorites.
