Pizza on Dubuque St in Iowa city has some good pizza. I forget info about the crust its made from scratch daily is similar to Great plains in taste but it is no where near as thick or tough dont believe they have a thick crust like Great Plains. Sams pizza in Cedar Rapids can be good though its in a hole in the wall of a bar and in a back corner of it. Sams pizza last few years has been hit and miss on quality. The recipe has been unchanged for 30+ years despite changing ownership and employees. Sams is a thin italian style last few months I have gotten a pizza from them it has been acceptable and great tasting recommend the sams special.

We used to go to Borderline after roller skating. Good times & really, really good pizza. Did not know about the B & K connection or it possibly resurfacing at a gas station. Need a good pizza place in Osage again, or better yet in New Haven.

The correct answer to this is Fong's in Des Moines. Several awesome choices there.

It was nothing special, but I ate Da Vinci's ALL the time in college. I miss that place.

I always felt bad for the females that worked at Pizza Pit when they had to wear the t-shirts with the logo on it.

There would always be that one guy who would make a joke about it, as if they hadn't heard it a million times already.

1.Fuel in Clarion is like Vesevius in Ames super thin crisp crust coal fired oven .
2. Happy Joes miss the one in Ames loved their sauerkraut and Canadian Bacon.
3. Great Plains love all that cheese.
Heck I like all kinds of different pizza.

I used to love it when I lived in Ames but once you get out and start experiencing other good pizzas, you tend to think GP is a tad overrated.

Having lived in Chicago and now New York City...I can verify this statement as extremely false!

My Pie & Little Guys is the best in Chicago and in NYC for a thin slice of cheese head up to Arthur Avenue (not that many Iowan's would mind you).

Tried Mabes in Decorah for the first time last summer. Don't get up that way very often. Wanting to try something different, I had, I think, Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza. Fantastic!
