The GF wants a really nice Dinner for Christmas. What is the best place in DM for this? Money really isn't an option. I got her something else since I am super nice, but I want to treat her to something really special.

Thanks!

A lot of people say the Latin King, but I'd say Centro if you're on a date.

Sam & Gabes. IMO, one of the best, if not the best, in the metro. I prefer it much more over 801 Grand.

Centro is also great.

without a doubt...Baru 66 in windsor heights. The absolute best restaurant in Des Moines. We are lucky to have a chef like that in Des Moines. Be prepared to spend some money...totally worth it though!

Bret, any particular part of town you'd like to be? Also, a preferred dress code?

Not really. I have plenty of good clothes to wear. She goes to PT in Omaha and is home over break. I am out of league with this type of stuff as a small town country guy. She deserves it. Plus it'll make a more enjoyable time for me then jewelry.

Also since she is going to be a PT I bought her Gray's Anatomy. Is that a decent gift to go along with the dinner. Something for her to utilize yet still lets her know I hope she does well?

I'd suggest something downtown; that way if you change your mind, you'll have plenty more good options (Centro, Djano, Splash, Court Avenue Brewpub, 801 Grand, etc. are all downtown). There are also lots of places to get a drink, coffee, take a walk, or maybe even find some music afterwards.

Chicks really dig it when you cook for them all day, set a romantic table and make a big deal of it. They think that you'll do it all the time when you're married. It works best when you just make a mess in the kitchen, cater it from a nice restaurant and take all the credit.

There is a difference between great food and a good place to take your girl.

801 Grand has the best atmosphere along with good food

All the others listed have good food but some are pretty loud. Sam & Gabes, Latin King, Centro have close seating and can be pretty loud. I haven't been to Splash in a few years but I remember it being pretty quiet.

I second dmclone. There are a lot of good food suggestions but 801 grand and splash both have high end atmospheres to go with the top notch food. You can't go wrong with either just depends on if you want steak or seafood. (FYI. There are a lot of good steak places in Iowa but not a lot of seafood places that can compete with splash)
