Gale:
Alright ya' hayseeds, it's a stick-up. Everybody freeze. Everybody down on the ground.

Old Man in bank:
Well, which is it young feller? You want I should freeze or get down on the ground? Mean to say, if'n I freeze, I can't rightly drop. And if'n I drop, I'ma gonna be in motion. You see...

Gale:

Old Man in bank:
Okay then.

Gale:
Everybody down on the ground!

Evelle:
Y'all can just forget that part about freezin' now.

Gale:
Better still to get down there.

Evelle:

Gale:

Evelle:
They're on the floor as you commanded, Gale.

Underrated dialogue from “This is Spinal Tap”

Marti DiBergi: You play to predominately a white audience. Do you feel your music is racist in any way?
David St. Hubbins: No, of course not. We say, "Love your brother." We don't say it really, but —
Nigel Tufnel: We don't literally say it.
David: No, we don't say it.
Nigel: We don't literally mean it.
David: No, we don't believe it either — but that message should be clear anyway.
Nigel: We’re anything but racist.

Dear Surly,
What you just said there is one of the most idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response did you even have anything close to a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for listing to you.
I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
Signed, Cyclone Fanatic.

Please feel free to refer to this quote from an Adam Sandler movie to use everytime Surly says something.

Awesome post. What's really cool is that the "220, 221 whatever it takes" line wasn't even in the script. Martin Mull pulled Michael Keaton aside before they shot the scene and suggested the set-up and the line. They shot it and it turned out to be pretty memorable. Here's Keaton explaining the scene:

“We’re doing the scene and it was okay,” Keaton told Esquire. “And I remember saying to the prop guy, ‘Go find me a chainsaw.’ When he comes back with it, he says, ‘You wanna wear these?’ And he holds up some goggles. I go, ‘Yeah.’ You know, they make me look crazy. And when Martin shows up, I know I should look under control, I’m not sweating it. I’m a dude. So we’re standing there, Martin pulls me aside and says, ‘You know what you ought to say? When I ask about the wiring, you oughta just deadpan: ‘220, 221.’ I died. It was perfect. I may have added ‘whatever it takes.’ But it was his.”

Pretty funny that the song playing in the car when Rat's driving Stacy to dinner isn't on Led Zeppelin IV.

The question is was that a movie makers' slip up or just showing how out of touch Rat is?

Slip up by Crowe. He thought he'd be able to use something from IV because he'd gotten to know the band during his days writing at Rolling Stone, but they had an iron clad lock on anything from IV being used in that way. He could use anything else, but nothing from IV. So he took Kashmir and didn't rewrite the Damone scene.

Lieutenant J.G. Daniel Kaffe: You cant handle the truth! Son we live in a world that has walls, and those have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it you, you lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury, you have the luxury of not knowing what I know, that Santiago's death while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence while grotesque and incomprehensible, to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you talk about parties; you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall! We use words like honor, code, loyalty, We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something, you use them as a punch line. I have neither the time,or the inclination, to explain myself to a man, who rises and sleep under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner, in which I provide it. I'd rather you just say 'thank you' and go on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn, what you think you are entitled to!
