I spend a lot of time driving around the state. Also spend a lot of time grabbing food for the road. What do you guys think is the best fast food/convenience store value for food, or even best food at one of those places in general?
Personally I have become a huge fan of QT and the 2/$2 jalapeno cheese dogs. Then a fountain drink and I am out the door for around $3.
Also like the corndogs there.

Casey's food I think tastes the best but for the price I could hit up a buffet in town.
How great is it to be able to get already made pizza rolls???!!!!
Hardees - hands down!!!!

They aren't exactly cheap and most of these places are not even close to fast. But if you want to support a locally owned place making a homemade breaded pork tenderloin sandwich, often with local ingredients, check out the map I put together with a guy from another forum:

I was about to say -- why not just check out Des Loines blog http://des-loines.blogspot.com/ (as found on DesMoinesReport.com) , but I see you're affiliated (or one in the same?).

WENDY'S HANDS DOWN!!! I can get 2 double cheese burgers and a crispy chicken sandwhich for $3.16 with tax and it fills me up! Need a drink? Just get a water and save yourself $1.XX. If you dont think they give you enough water, just ask for a large water and they usually dont complain. I do this most everyday and it doesnt get old. By the way this is the Fort Dodge Wendy's which surprisingly taste better than the average Wendy's.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking at doing fast food several times a week then the $5 footlong blows everyone out of the water if you aren't looking to blow up like a Macy's day parade balloon. Wheat bread, Turkey breast and Ham, NO MAYO and you'll be full and won't gain a bunch of fat.

You forgot a little place in Nevada, 8 mi. to your east, called Starbucks Drive-in (NOT the coffee chain); they make a decent tenderloin and onion rings, plus have soft-serve as well.

contrary to atkins belief, carbs are not bad for you. In fact you need them.

edit: what is bad for you is all of the artificial chemicals they add to fast food, along with all of the fat and grease. Oh don't forget, there is little to no nutritional value in those meals - just empty calories.

What? Like the flame broil flavor of Burger King? The flavor you burp and taste for hours after?

Have always (and still am) been a huge Wendy's dollar menu fan...usually a combination of double stacks/jr. bacon cheeseburgers. Lately BK has been drawing me in more w/ their double cheeseburgers. A good deal on fries is where I'm lacking, you can't get much at all for less than $1.70 any more.

Exactly. Like with everything, it comes down to moderation.

Indeed. Atkins and South Beach are gimmicks, not lifestyles. Here's a tip for those of you trying to lose weight, who think you need a footlong sub + chips or a double quarter pounder with cheese to power your during an afternoon:

EAT LESS

You don't even have to pay me. That tip is free. :)

what ever happened to b-bop. buy one, get one. That was awesome. coupons went out in the daily all the time. go get 2 burgers a fry, and a coke for like 2.10 or something.

Still crave a stop when in town, even without the coupons!

I'm NOT saying carbs are bad for you, but if you live on a diet of mostly sandwiches, the carbs do add up very quickly to an unhealthy level. As with almost everything else, consuming them in moderation is healthy. A wide variety of foods in moderate amounts is the key to healthy eating. I should follow my own advice.:mask:
