Coverage

Yeah, it's not great - but the vast majority of the time I have no issues. My biggest issue is when I go to eastern IA to visit family (Cascade area).

iPhone Battery

No issues there, use mine all the time. I can go a day and come home with a little charge left, charge it up and use it more that night. I have not brought a USB charger into work yet and have not run out of battery this week. And I've been using the phone a lot so far this week. Not being able to replace it does annoy me though...but not a huge concern.

Have not had 3G long enough, obviously, to comment on battery life with it.

Features

Not having copy/paste or being able to send picture texts is a pain. At least, both of these can easily be solved via a software update. I just wonder a) why it wasn't included originally or b) why the upgrade has not been made.

For the first few months, the phone never froze. Then I started having freezing issues sporadically about 6 weeks ago. With the last update a couple weeks back - it seemed to have cured that, for me at least.

So far, this device has lived up to my expectations. There are things I'm not thrilled about with it - but generally, I love it. Been very good for me personally and business wise - being able to show my photos off on a large screen in a very user-friendly way has helped yield some business.

I'm not going to complain about less battery life with 3G as I'd rather have the more usable internet. So far I get very acceptable battery life. I have it on my charger in the car when I'm out and that keeps me fine all day. Now when my kids grab my phone and play Tap Tap Revenge all night...

Apple could have done themselves a huge favor by not going with AT&T
Verizon had first shot at the iPhone. Ultimately I think it worked better for Apple because GSM is a better global platform.

Does anybody have a rough idea of where 3G is currently available in the Des Moines area? I live on the south-west side of Ankeny, and I'm not getting a 3G symbol.

It doesn't go very far north right now.

Or west...I've been waiting all day and haven't seen it yet.

Going to the Energy game tonite, so I will watch and see how it does on the way.

I work in West Des Moines and had 3G there. Had it all the way on my drive home until just south of Ankeny. What a disappointment to see it switch over to Edge!

I'm a central Iowa cell phone user. Is the iphone worth it? All I want is a phone with e-mail and web capabilties that gets good phone service. How about the Blackberry Curve with US Cellular? Any luck with that one?

I enjoy my Iphone. I have had minor coverage issues, but nothing worse than I had with my Sprint phone. The internet access is great and I like having the Ipod features available to me. On a flight to Texas I was able to watch 2 episodes of the West Wing.

I live in far North Des Moines and get 3G service, but lose it when I go to work in Johnston. I have to say that I haven't been blown away by the difference between 3G and Edge. I suppose that I am usually in range of a wifi signal, so I don't actually use edge that much.

Does anyone have any really cool apps that they want to share?
