Are the exit fees split equally?

I don't understand why everyone is assuming that Nebraska will be paying for two years. They are only going to be playing for the 2010-2011 season. If the by-laws state that they get reduced TV money why would that happen for 2011-2012 when they are in the BigTen? Is the Big12 going to still give them TV money when they aren't even playing in the conference (2011-2012), or are they going to have to retroactively giving the money back for 2009-2010? Colorado is currently expected to play in 2011-2012 so they would only give 50% each year.

Apparently the buyout is not that simple. See the linked post for more in depth but the nuts and bolts is Colorado owes the Big 12 50% of the revenue they would get from the Big 12 over the next 2 years. Nebraska will owe the Big 12 80% of the revenue.

Credit Rogue52 for doing the work.
Seems like their revenue take for each school is $8M each year so that is 8M for CU and 13 M for Nebby if two years. The price of divorce.

If one year penalty then it will be 10.5M for the two teams.

Just do not pay them next year - take it in advance to make sure it is paid.

Pay them the 5.5M when they are gone.
