Excuse my cynicism, but if I understand this correctly, Twitter is yet another way that people can communicate non stop, useless chatter to and about each other because Facebook, web cams, email, cell calls, smart phones, and of course, never ending text messages aren't enough?

Obviously, thats one way to use it. It can also be a quick way to communicate with customers and potential customers. Several businesses I know of are on it, like Olde Main Brewing in Ames.

Bank of America does some customer service via twitter. It can be a great way to get news before it breaks on other venues.
I just got it today. I can now tell people I am bored and sitting on my couch using yet another source.
no offense Wartnight, but darn stupid. Maybe I don't get it, I tried, but my brother and I don't see the point. It is just like facebook, I hate facebook and anything else like it. It is pointless.... if anyone wants to get ahold of me they can get my email or phone number somewhere...sorry just went off on a tangent!!:wideeyed:
A lot of companies monitor twitter for bad pr stuff, with some if you complain about it on twitter they will get someone there to fix it faster so you stop complaining. It is very useful, one guy was arrested in egypt or somewhere over there and the made a quick tweet that he was arrested his friends saw it and told us authorities and they got him released. It can also be fun and addicting, check out twitter.com/lancearmstrong it is actually him.
