True, would the camera have to be rotating? or just take a wide panoramic view? The question I have about one is how is the car able to drive down the road and take video footage directly 90 degrees left and right of the direction of the car?

I think what they do is have a camera rotating 360 degrees and have a GPS attached to the top.

Pfft, I'll be impressed when Google has Street View in real time.

Wow really? It still freaks me out that they can even do this.

No thanks, the world is enough like 1984 already. I don't need a freaking wall looking into my house all day

Well, it looks that most of the "metro" area of Des Moines is covered.

It looks like someone finally got to Ames before Iowa City for once.

Iowa City:
-BW3
-Old Chicago
-Chipotle

Ames:
Google Maps

This is really cool, but I would trade it in a second for a BW3 in Ames.

So it looks like this has been posted here for a few days, but I just saw it for the first time. Cool!

Someone else placed the pictures around late October of '07, and I think that's about right. Obviously the fallen leaves put them in the Fall, and I don't think they had fallen to the extent they did until about mid to late October last year. I know it's not November because I can see my grill sitting by my house and I know I put my grill in the garage before November last year. I also know it was '07 because I didn't live there year before. So at the least the pictures of my house were probably mid-to-late October of '07.

Can I have my cookie now?

I just think this is really cool.

It has to be Fall 2007, 150 Anniversary flags are up as well as the "This is Cyclone Country" flags.

For those asking how they do this: I've seen them in Houston a bunch. They have vans or suvs with a small tower of cameras on top. It looks like 4 or 8 cameras as the driver covers his route. Kinda cool to stick out your tongue when you see them go by.
