Everyone is going to pick Virginia because of one (or more) of the following:

ISU doesn't play defense
Virginia plays good defense
Virginia has quality depth
ISU has no depth
Virginia can score at will against any defense
ISU struggles to score against good defenses.

Essential Virginia will win this game unless they somehow give the game to ISU. Where is my paycheck for this top notch analysis which took me 2 minutes to write.

We do?

Virginia is statistically the best team in the country so don't take it as a slap in the face everyone is picking Virginia...

They play extremely slow, but very efficiently. The score less because they have less possessions per game. KenPom has Virginia as the 6th best offense, while ISU is 3rd. Virginia is also 4th on D, while ISU is way way down the list.

ISU can win, but they have to win by getting Virginia out of their slow it down game. Force turnovers into transition baskets, and we need to be extremely efficient on offense.

I don't think we can take them out of their slow down game, but I do think we can beat them by being patient and efficient on offense (if we are effective on defense). They won't allow us to run much, except maybe with any turnovers we get. Our game plan against Little Rock will suffice, but obviously it will take an even better effort on both ends.

I am not. I expect ISU to lose in a close game. What gets me is that national pundits who (while not actually saying it) are implying that ISU has no chance. Or when a panel is suppose to discuss the matchup between ISU and UVA but only talks about great UVA.

This will be a tough game. Looking at the game on paper I don't believe we match up well with Virginia.

But watching the first two games, I see a Cyclone team that is playing defense 10 times better than we have seen all season. If we can keep that up there isn't a team in the nation we can't beat. And as long as Georges is on his game we will get our points. When he is on it opens up so much for everyone else.

We played amazing half court offense today
Against Arkansas Little Rock. Virginia has only given up 75 points in a game once this year and it was against Villanova (who still lost the game by 11). No one has scored 80 against them in a long time. ISU's only 2-5 in games vs. tourney teams where the opponent held them under 80 points and 7-6 against tourney teams when they score 80+. ISU will have their hands full trying to get to 80 points against Virginia. It will be entertaining to watch whether or not ISU's offense can overpower Virginia's defense. Should be a great game to watch. I am hoping you guys can pull off the upset and KU, ISU and OU can make the Big 12, not the ACC, the story of the tourney.

ALR was a very good defensive team. I'm not sure what their AdjD was going into the game but I know it was pretty good. Obviously not anywhere on the same level as Virginia but what ISU did against ALR was still impressive.

I'll be rooting against all of the ACC teams from here on out. I'm hoping that three Big XII teams in the Elite 8 will change the narrative.

Didnt this many ACC teams make it this far one time but then they all lost in the sweet 16 or something? Things can change real fast. Dont forget the ACC nearly has twice as many teams at the Big 12

Either way Brogdon is going to get his. I think Matt with be on Perrantes. Niang will be on Gill. After those 3 guys UVA doesn't really have another good scorer.

Brogdon will get his, I just hope we can keep Perrantes under control. He's the type of player that has gone off against us in the past.

They don't have another 1 or 2 that can score in bunches so Matt or Monte will key on him all game. I don't think Tobey will do much in this game.
