All the talk about white helmets

With all the teams having alternate jerseys, it would be great for ISU to have an alternate home/away jersey. ISU should have one alternate jersey and have a white helmet with one of these logos Athletics Identity Marks : Trademark Licensing Office
that has cy included in it. Thoughts?

This one's been retired in lieu of the "new walking Cy" and the "Cy head in a hurricane" logos, right?

I wish we could stick with the same thing for more than 3 years. I think we should have just one wordmark logo and one mascot logo. I like how Oklahoma State does it; they have the newish-lookin "O State" wordmark logo and an old-school Pistol Pete as a mascot logo. If we followed suit, we could have "I-State" as our wordmark logo and old-school Walking Cy as our mascot logo...and nothing else.

Nice work. I love the idea of putting old Cy on the helmet, maybe for an occasional retro look (even though 1967 was the only year old Cy was on the helmet, according to this.)

Off the top of my head, there's whirly-Cy, whirly-Cy without the letters, the whirly-Cy mentioned above (the one without the blue color), umpteen variants of whirly-Cy with different words and initials, walking Cy, Cy leaning against an I, Cy playing basketball, Cy playing football, Cy with a wrestling outfit, I-State, new Walking Cy, Cy's head inside a hurricane thing, the cursive "Iowa State" with a funky tornado under it, on and on and on.

There have been many alternate logos but as far as primary logos go, there hasnt been a whole lot of change.

I agree that walking cy is classic, but as far as a logo to go on a helmet, I would still take the twirly cy, because I still think it best represents our actual logo while keeping Cy as a staple. I love cy, but we are the cyclones, not the red birds.

I really like the alternate white helmet idea but I think we should stick with the I-State logo consistently from now on. We need to establish a long term, old school logo look and I think the I-State logo fits the bill. That being said, an exception could be made for special throwback uniform games when the classic walking Cy would be an excellent choice.

Of all our various logos my favorites are the current I-State one and the classic walking Cy. The whirly-bird Cy never shows up well enough on the helmets. The I-State and walking Cy logos are both simple enough to show up well.

That is as straight forward as you can get and would be a good alternate..

Definitely my favorite logo.

Here's a sample of blender-Cy on white.

Works better than that logo did red-on-red, for visibility - still hard to see "what it is" from a distance.

I think that would be the best alternate white helmet.

Simple and distinct. I think the alternates should stick out more and not just be the same logo on a different color helmet. But that's just me.
