They are going to create the Big XI bowl, for the two that didn't make a bowl, it will be shown in high def on New Year's Day so that Iowa will ALWAYS play on Jan. 1st.

There's a lot of things to make fun of the Big 10 for but their bowl lineup isn't one of them.

Sure you can make fun of the Big 10's bowl lineup - it's so ridiculous it allows a 7-win team to play on a Jan 1 bowl... :jimlad:

Yeah, maybe jdoggivjc, but I'd eat my own foot if it meant that ISU could play in a good New Year's Day Bowl with just seven wins. Seriously.

The Big 10 officials are so much better at looking after their member schools than the Big 12. There is no comparision.

Given the clear superiority of their conference, they will probably be pursuing a second guaranteed spot in the BCS...

:jimlad:

Don't they already have that? Ohio State is assured a spot in the national title game to get smoked by the team of their choice. That then allows a second team that has no business being in the BCS to slide up, typically to the Rose Bowl to be sacrificed to the mighty USC (except in the case that USC is putting the smack down on OSU). These unwelcome BCS party guests could include schools like Iowa or Illinois.
