Jamie Pollard is all about running a clean program. He isn't going to hire Billy G or anyone ala Bob Huggins. He just isn't so get that out of your head. I'm still of the belief that the Nick Nurse promotion might be a good one. Have Nurse and Grayer and let him bring in his two assistants.

Assuming this is true I would have to think that Pollard would try very hard to keep Nurse and Grayer in the mix. Nurse has earned his way in to this gig and giving him a shot at the whole package only seems fair.
That said, if Pollard even got an inkling that something was happening with Altman and Oregon, and thus Mac and Creighton, maybe this was in his plan. However, that is a tall order.
