You mad?Wrong, but nice try. Winners win, Gorf.
It's always interesting to see how many people still act like they're mad or need to stick it to people after a big win. Happiness is not for everyone....

Fred Hoiberg pisses excellence.
You can't take someone with no coaching experience over BG. No way.

I understand the fact that there is concern about his lack of coaching experience, but keep in mind, this guy had a nice NBA career going until he had problems with his heart so he must know a little something about how the game is played, because thousands of guys with more talent than him never made it half as long in the league. Also, if he's a VP of and NBA team, someone must think he's got a heck of an eye for determining talent thus making him somewhat of an effective recruiter. Who better to sell Ames and the possibilities out there by playing basketball for ISU??? I think the dissappointment being expressed on this topic is pretty sad. It seems like people are more disappointed with Freddy's return than they were when GMAC was given another year. I think it'd be a great hire and I have no doubt he'd surround himself with great assistants.
Just wait til we fire the most beloved Cyclone of all time in 4 years.
Please don't let it be true.
How do you hire someone with no coaching experience whatsoever for a multimillion dollar program?
As for the suggestion on bringing back Otz\nurse... so we finally get rid of gmac and we want to bring back his team? Screw that.
Thats the problem. He's NEVER COACHED A GAME! We're not talking intramurals. Its DIVISION ONE BASKETBALL!

Done with ISU basketball. Bye
This is only 5 posts in or so. Another contender.
Scary hire, but I'm excited as hell. I just feel like Freddie will succeed because he wants to succeed, and will do the things necessary to make it happen. Holy cow........is Hilton Magic back????
Freddy disagrees. Not a callout to you, but all of the ESPN and sports writers that thought this. Fred is the man. On his way to a legendary career with no coaching experience before coming. The. Man.********. I'm an ISU fan, so i want our PROGRAM to have the best chance to succeed. When you have 15 coaches calling, a number of whom according to Thompson have put 6-8 teams in the NCAA tournament, you dont hire someone with ZERO coaching experience.
Nobody likes a showboater. And the answer is a resounding yes!
JP has gone crazy. Not a good choice IMO. How do you sell this to recruits? Cya Jamie...
**** this ****. Jamie. ******* Resign.
Disappointing. I'd rate this hire at about a 3 out of 10 on the surface. Better than 1 out of 10 we had but, wow, we could have done better.
Just wait til we fire the most beloved Cyclone of all time in 4 years.
This just in Jamie Pollard hates the basketball program.
Seriously I love Freddy but this is just asking WAY to much of a new coach.
can he recruit players im gonna say no...umm can he coach umm you dont no lol this is a werid hire if you ask me...we will never be on top of the big 12 again![]()
You have got to be ******* kidding me. No ******* way. ****
Just got off the phone with Fred. Hoiberg is gonna bring Iowa State back to the top. I bet after his first year, we will win at least one game in the tournament for at least two straight years and he will bring in some of the best shooters and playmakers in the country. By 2014, he will have signed the best shooting guard in the class. Mark my word. I also think he will be like fine wine and become better looking as he ages
How many users of this site have said "Anyone would be better than GMac" over the past few years?
Well, we're about to find out. Hey, if he's successful, he'll never leave. Good luck, Mayor.
I'll honestly never get the whole "I'm better than you because I had blind faith in Hoiberg from before the beginning" posts.
So Hoiberg has been as good or better than some of us hoped initially. Great - we're all better for it - and it makes those that continue to bring this up 3 years later first class dooshes because they can't seem to live a happy life without receiving that continuous pat on the back over it.
