If Fred can't light a fire under his team because of a heart condition, then maybe he isn't in the right profession?

And at the VERY least he needs to send messages with playing time then, if he's not going to get in their faces.

Watching tonight's game I found myself wondering what in the world KL and Clyburn have to do to get yanked? Obviously there isn't anything? If I'm Naz Long, I'm thinking about transferring at this point. KL can go out there and stink it up ALL night long and cost us possession after possession, but yet I don't even get in the game for a stinkin' minute? I'm sorry, I just don't get it.

If you have guys that are playing stupid and aren't listening to you, then you MUST yank them... period. Right now KL must be thinking that he can do whatever he pleases everytime down the court because Fred won't sit him.

Come on man. Fred has seen these guys practice and he's seen them play multitudes more than you. An even-keeled coach is not going to bench one of the guys he NEEDS to play 30-35 MPG if this team is going to have any hope for a good season. Korie has played well since the Drake game, and one bad game is not enough to ***** him out.

You have to be careful what you wish for. The Naz Long I've seen play is ready to be playing PG in the B12 yet and is a couple steps below Lucious, despite all of Lucious' mistakes.

he is a manequin

deal with it

Haha, true. But he is so god damn dreamy. I am really happy he is our coach. It's his third year and his second on his own without much bench expierance, he is learning on the job.

You don't have to be a fiery *** hole to be a good coach. Ever see Brad Stevens got too excited or too angry? He's only been to the title game a couple times. Teams react to things differently. Some of them will take it as a challenge, others you crush their already fragile confidence. When your team is struggling to find an identity isn't the time to rip into them.

And benching Lucious and Clyburn is a great idea and all until you look at who has to replace them and realize we're better taking the bad with the good rather than just plain bad.

The coaching style of not being up in the face is cohesive not benching guys. A guy who doesn't respond well to a coach in his face won't respond well to being benched either. I don't see Fred benching guys to "prove a point."

To be honest, wouldn't surprise me if Lucious is one of those guys that responds poorly to a coach getting in his face, especially during a game.

Maybe he is proving a point to this team. Play lazy and this is what happens. Now maybe he can get their attention again and move foward.

Now you think he is forgetting about coaching and losing on purpose to get their attention? That's a whole new level of stupid.

You want Fred to die from blood clot? DIAF KMA STFU and EABOD OP.
Then he needs an assistant who can step up and take over where he cannot. We are by far the mildest team in the conference. Even TCU had more enthusiasm.

You can coach them all you want and if they dont care it doesnt do a bit of good. This team looked like they dont care tonight.

What good does making an *** of yourself do? Larry Eustachy spent 5 years ****** off on the sidelines at Iowa State. We were a great team for 2 of them and were average the other 3. Fran McCaffery goes ape **** every game and his team is very average. Brad Stevens is as calm and collected as Hoiberg is and his teams have been pretty solid over the past 5 years.

Emotion =/= passion.

Playing time is the only thing a coach has with today's player. I don't care if he yells at someone or not, but when you see lack of effort waste a time out, bench the kid, and put someone else in until said player gets the message. I see Coach K do that all the time. KL plays like he knows he isn't coming out.

I am sure the guys care, but the body language is just so bad, heads down, noone talks to each other, walk up the floor. Half the time we lob it in bounds the guy throws it back to the inbounder and he's barely made the effort to get in bounds, let alone run down the floor. Compare that with the really good teams. They are always hustling, heads up, talking to each other.

Feeling follows action; act like a loser and you will lose. Sometimes you have to fake it till you make it.

You've got to be kidding me! This type of garbage discuses me. Fred got us back to the turny last year, after giving up on being the future gm of the timberwolves. We had a bad game, simple as that. Environment sucked, we played like shiz, and simply put UR AN IDIOT! If long wants to transfer cuz of that then good, go, we don't want quitters on our team. It's a good thing that everybody with your mindset either played for Gmac or are hawkeye's.

freds right for ISU, how many refs have you got into their face on a night in and night out basis? Not nearly as many as Fred, otherwise you wouldn't be on this board. He shows emotion when he feels he needs to. I believe he has already popped his tec cherry, so **** off!

Vs KU and Texas this team did seem like a team, helping out, doing the little things. The last 3 games it hasnt been that way.

When Iowa State has the bench Duke does that's applicable. Who has shown they can handle playing in place of Lucious and Clyburn?

Nobody.

I don't care. Pull them out, and let them watch the subs struggle. Make them realize how much they are letting the team down.

Right when I thought clonedude couldn't get any stupider, he says Fred might be in the wrong profession. Come on man, you don't have to be fiery just to be a coach. I respect how he keeps his cool a lot more than some idiot that screams the whole time. It's not Fred's demeanor to do that.

You do realize Fred's job is to win basketball games, right? Just making sure we're on the same page here. You put your best options on the floor.

And KL playing like he was tonight cannot possibly be our best option. If so, then Hoiberg has not done his job at having a capable backup on the roster then.

I can't tell who is running the show anymore? Because KL isn't coming out of the game until KL decides he is. That is what it has become. Naz Long must really be horrible. At least that's the message that Fred is sending him.
