Since he started working with Korfist, Montgomery hasn't run a true timed 40-yard dash. But Korfist estimates that Montgomery is now at a 4.44 mark, a vast improvement from the 4.63 he clocked at the NFL Combine in 2019. Montgomery has added 1.5 miles per hour to his speed since he began with Korfist a year ago.

He ran untouched for an 80 yard TD last season.

A rare occurrence for even blazing speed.

This! RBs are not the fastest runners on a football field...a title usually reserved for WRs/DBs. So for DM to pull this off he certainly needed some space...but he also had "enough" speed to get it done. "Fast" or "slow" may be a relative measurement but DM isn't slow.

He's probably hand timing him so he isn't sure on exact speed numbers.
Most people would just refer to that as hand timed, like they always do at a schools pro day. Calling it an estimate is just odd phrasing, and arguably wrong if he is hand timing.

Cool can I see your credentials as a speed coach and where you went to school and what your major was and how long you've been working with pro level athletes?

I think we might be overthinking this a little is my point.

Some people are just faster in pads. No way to explain it.

It has more to do with how many times does someone run 40 yards in a straight line with no one around them on a football field vs pads or no pads.

I'm talking about how it just seems like some just move better in the actual game for whatever reason vs some measurement.

Just kind of a funny deal.
