I think too many of us have been trying to will this team to a special, special season. Clearly it doesn’t look like that will happen so maybe that takes the pressure off of everyone…players, coaches, and fans…and things can get back to being more fun.

Because I agree, that sucked to watch even though we had several chances to win.

Getting older you realize after years of getting bent out of shape ….that in the long run it’s just not worth the pain and heartache worrying about what you can’t control. There are many more important things in life and many more meaningful things in life. The importance of sports melts away a little bit…… i’ve always found the more goals and purpose driven activities you have the less these things affect you. That and weed……weed helps.

Too much of my happiness and mood relies on Iowa States football performance. Too much of my identity is tied up and how well we do. I cannot change the outcome of anything, yet I get so frustrated with things that happen outside of my control.

How do I learn to take a step back and realize collegiate football is not what defines me?

I used to be where you are. You just gotta keep reminding yourself of exactly what you just said. If you didn’t care, you wouldn’t be a fan. But you have to only let it bother you so much.

It’s a long season, but being a championship team means elite Special Teams and we don’t have them. Quite the opposite actually. So, you just have to reset your expectations and hope for a decent bowl destination.

I've just switched back to bring an ISU fan of 10 years ago. No expectations and nothing surprises me.

What you're describing is a TOE fan. Be better than them.

Start taking the money line on the other guys. At least you get paid.

I can't tell you how, but yes, you have to brush it off. If you died today, the players wouldn't shed a tear. Don't ruin your day or weekend because they sucked it up.

Spoken like a man that didn’t readjust expectations after the UNI game.

It’s just a game. Nothing more, nothing less. Be disappointed, sad, mad, frustrated. But move on and be thankful we are living through the best football this school has ever seen.

It does kinda suck that “the best football” this school has ever seen is worse than Kansas’ best football it’s ever seen.
