As an update on the numbers, Campbell is at 33-27 through 60 games and Rhoads was at 25-35 at the 60 game mark.

Also, Campbell has already surpassed Rhoads for total wins at Iowa State. CPR's overall record was 32-55.

Oh it's about to start getting real separation. Rhoads' final years were all awful. I'd love to see their conference records for comparison.

The whole trajectory was opposite. CPR looked surprisingly good early and constantly regressed. The Campbell era started slow, but the team obviously improved by the end of the first year. Steady improvement ever since. We've gone from losing big, to losing close, to winning close. Next step, win big more than not.

I feel like Campbell gave us a lot of hope that first year. That texas tech beat down was fun. The Baylor game was so close, and we destroyed SjSU.

Also had a good Okie State team on the ropes in Stillwater.

For conference records Campbell is 25-19, while Rhoads was 14-29 over his first 5 seasons and 16-45 overall.

That is pretty telling that half of Rhoads' wins at ISU came against non-Big 12 opponents.

Pat Forde had a pretty amazing stat. Over the last 4 seasons:

Texas’ conference record is 21–14. In that same span, Oklahoma’s is 32–5, Iowa State’s is 23–12 and Oklahoma State’s is 19–15.

I know post-Louisiana loss point of this thread was Rhoads is close to Campbell at this point but that’s not even remotely accurate. And this stat shows it.

I find it quite humorous when people call them “Chizik players” when he’d only been around two years—and had gone 5-19 with those very same players. Laughable, even.

They were actually fun to watch too, unlike the 3-9 Rhoads teams. Towards the end of the year you could really see things trending in the right direction.

CPR only won 25% of his last 27 games? Dam I forgot how bad it was. But I do remember the foggy memories of thinkimg stuff like, "if we get an INT, quick TD, an onside kick we'll be in business".

surprised by that OSU number. We could easily be that level of program for a sustained amount of time.
