On days when it's really snowy and not plowed everywhere, what footwear do you wear to work or out to eat?

My tennis shoes have mesh on them so I don't want to wear those.
My dress shoes have leather soles so there is no grip and I don't want them to get ruined.
My snow boots are all rubber and go up far on my leg so not those.
What type of shoe do you wear to walk around in snow piles when you can't wear big bulky snow boots?
Waterproof hiking or work boots, come up just over the ankle and have a little more sole. If its getting into my pant leg with those on I'm probably not leaving the house except to shovel or play, in which case I'm wearing snow boots and snow pants with built in gaiters.

I guess I am confused - would a man actually wear boots to work or a restaurant?

I bought a pair of Caterpillar boots for this winter. Waterproof, soft toe. Have worn them every day since Christmas. Same brand as my work boots, and those are by far the best pair of boots I've ever had.
