$211 Trillion Overdrawn Balance

Joe Martins, who lives in Cobb County, recently closed an account at Wachovia Bank. Soon thereafter he received a letter confirming the closure and alerting him to an unpaid balance of $211,010,028,257,303.00. The letter went on to tell Martins that the bank was reporting him to an agency that tracks risky customers.

A couple years ago, Wells Fargo credited one of my deposits as $2500 more than I actually put in. I called them, and did get a thank you letter:sad:

Bank error not in your favor. Wachovia must have some pretty onerous fees. The interesting question is what does that do to their accounting. 'Well, we had been charging off all of our subprime mortgage losses to Jumbopackage, but he closed his account out, so we've gotta find a new patsie now'.
