I'm wondering if Deyo can play center or guard in September? If he's the highest rated Iowa lineman we have had, he may be that good.
I just went back and looked at the cyclones.com list. Hunter is not listed as one of the early enrollees. So offense or defense, the odds are nigh certain that he doesn’t play and redshirts.

That said, Hunter Deyo snapping to Hunter Dekkers actually sounds kinda fun.

Yes and no on Deyo - we still have Dominique Orange. Hes a huge DT centerpiece for us.

I like Orange a lot, but he’s definitely a boom bust kinda guy. High upside, but I’d want to have other options too. He may take time to develop.

Yes, maybe Deyo can be a Nick Leaders type NG. Will be fun to watch him develop. Be interesting to see how Howard Brown develops.

I see the 2021 roster has been updated to delete the guys who went into the portal. I guess that's fair since they didn't stay for our bowl game.

As of now, with graduates and the portal, I count 29 guys gone and therefore 29 open scholarships. We signed 20. We have 2 transfers incoming. We have Jontez Williams. So, we have room yet for more 2022 recruits, or transfers, or for our portal guys to return to ISU. (And yes, I allowed for the seniors we know are returning).

Just curious, was listening to a sports talk show but didn't catch all of it. They were throwing out data of the % of players in Div1 and also P5 schools that aren't picked up after entering portal due to increased numbers, I think. Were they meaning not picked up by a school also in a P5 or having to go 'down' a level? Like I said, I didn't catch it all, but it sounded/seemed as if alot of players don't necessarily find the grass is greener on the other side. Thoughts?

Josh Pate over at Late Kick has been talking about this for a while now. People just have to learn the hard way, I guess.

The grass isn't always greener. That is for sure. Imagine if Isheem ends up as a role player at some sec school...... would be a waste.

Wingo DT from Mizzou is entering the portal. 2021 kid was freshman all sec. We offered last year, any chance we'll make a run at him?
