What's an onside conversion

Since they don't do kickoffs, there is no opportunity for a conventional onside kick. Instead, they do essentially a 4th and 10 from...the 35 yard line, I think? And if you don't get the 10 yards, you give the ball to the opponent wherever that play ends at.
