Not so fast. I remember thinking thoughts like this LAST YEAR at this time.

I think if Allen was the player we expected him to be, this would be a really special year for us.
Unfortunately he isn't. (And I know he is playing out of position but Royce plays point half the time and Allen was at the 2 half of the year so im not buying it)

Isn't Bubu on scholarship now? I swore I read somewhere that Hoiberg gave him one, and he went out and immediately got injured in the next game.

Next years team should be able to contend for a Big XII title. Having Clyburn for a year is going to be great.

I really don't think either of our seniors could be considered HUGE losses this year. When both Allen and Christopherson aren't scoring, they really do nothing for our team. And in Allen's case, he'll shoot regardless if he's feeling it or not, which really just hurts the team. IMO Clyburn/Lucious > Allen/Scotty

Obviously you can't prove this until they actually play, but Lucious is the true PG we could use, and Clyburn seems like he's gonna be able to get his own shot whenever he wants, which is another thing this year's team needs.

I get what you are saying but I think CA ans SC are at 12.5 and 11.8 ppg right now, respectively. They can fill it up and I don't honestly think that the combo on Clyburn and Lucious score 24.3 points in the big 12. I see Clyburn in the neighborhood of 12-14/game and Lucious more in the 5-6 per game as a true point guard. I could be wrong.

I will reserve judgement on losing CA until next year, keep in mind that people were talking about him last year at this time the way they are talking about WC this year. SC will be missed especially when we need big shots, that dude is stone cold at the buzzer.

All that said, we are a better team next year with growth of the current players and the addition of a real PG, just don't think we should discount CA/SC combo too much.

I can see McGee picking up the scoring slack. CA and SC are really solid but I think they have struggled this year because they are being asked to do things that aren't their strengths. Having those 2 with Babb this year may be more talented than a group of Babb, WC and KL but the latter group is more of a traditional group and won't force guys to play out of position. That's why I'm not as worried about losing Chris and Scotty, nothing against them, I just think having a true PG will counter their loss.

A top-tier winning team in the BigXII needs to have at least 2 NBA players. Next year we'll have just that in Clyburn and White. The rest of the team is pretty solid too, but with these two, it could be special, really special.

Good point. I think you're right about the true point guard, too. Lucious as a setup guy with big time experience will be huge. I can only imagine the pass highlights next year with him and Royce dishing all over the floor. Melvin better work on his hands!!

Even without Lucious and Clyburn we will be better (assuming everyone is back except Allen and Scott). Those two will be losses, but the current player will get better in the offseason. Remember, this is Royce's first year playing real ball in a while. He will now know what he needs to work on (ahem, free throws, ahem), as will the other guys, and they will all improve. I'm excited to see what Booker and Percy can do next year after getting their feet wet this time around.

I agree 100%! Is there anything a guy can do to improve his hands?

The roster looks good next year...really good. Fred will need them to perform as well as they look, because 2013 will be a HUGE recruiting year. Will be replacing:

Babb
Lucious
Clyburn
McGee
White (probably)

That is a load.
