Alright Heres my predictions, I think this is gonna be our best season ever. Reasons why you might ask, well we have one of the best offenses in the nation, when stevie hicks is 100% healthy, possible 1000 yd. back and one of the greatest pass blocking RB's ever! Our D is gonna be fine. We have a beast in Curvey to clog up the A-Hole, and I think this might be our most athletic Defenses ever. Heres my picks

Toledo (W) a tough 1st game against an underrated team (1-0)

UNLV (W) (2-0)

Iowa (W) (3-0) We "show up" once again against the OVERrated hawks at home F THE HAWKS!!

Texas (W) (4-0) We upset a depleted team. Offense shocks the world

UNI (W) (5-0) Uni gives us a scare after texas

Neb. (W) (6-0) Biggest game of the year and we perform

Okla. (L) (6-1) Cant beat a very very good team come up short

TT (W) (7-1) Shootout goes in our favor at home

KState (W) (8-1) we show Kstate up again in manhattan

Kansas (W) (9-1) Revenge game

Colorado (L) (9-2) Scary team especially in colorado

Mizzu (W) (10-2) Finish season very strong for once!

Big 12 title game (W) vs. Oklahoma - Payback from midseason

I think we get into a BCS bowl for 1st time ever our team finally doesnt choke. Call me crazy, call me optimistic call me stupid but I have faith this year more than any other year!

I think our team as a whole is slightly better than last year's but the 2nd toughest schedule in the NCAA will keep us in the 6-8 win range with a North title being a little out of reach when it's all said and done. The scores are a little pointless to throw in but i'll do it anyway to see how wrong I was at the end of the season. Here is my best guess at 2006:

TOLEDO: WIN (1-0)---A pumped up JT and a pathetic Rockets' defense will help the Clones take care of business at night...38-14 Clones

UNLV: WIN (2-0)---Easiest game of the year, no need to stop tailgating (j/k)...42-10 Cyclones

IOWA: LOSS (2-1)---Kinnick Stadium is the difference and Drew Tate doesn't lose his cool as a senior...27-23 Hawks

TEXAS: LOSS (2-2)---Six days to recover from the physical game in Iowa City isn't nearly enough, Horns in control the whole way..34-17 Longhorns

UNI: WIN (3-2)---A much needed win in the middle of murderer's row...40-19 ISU

NEBRASKA: LOSS (3-3)---Intense, close battle that slips away in the 4th quarter, bye-bye North...35-27 Huskers

OKLAHOMA: LOSS (3-4)---Better than expected effort by the Clones but A.P. wears down the ISU front line in the second half...30-20 Okie

TEXAS TECH: WIN (4-4)---Best win of the year, Homecoming crowd leads to an electric shootout...44-31 State

KANSAS ST: WIN (5-4)---Wildcats put up a fight but an experienced ISU offense gets the job done...34-24 ISU

KANSAS: WIN (6-4)---Defense finally shows some promise in a conference game...31-13 Clones

COLORADO: LOSS (6-5)---My toughest pick of all 12 games, Buffs in OT with Crosby vs. Culbertson matchup having obvious consequences...23-20 CU

MIZZOU: WIN (7-5)---This game scares me but I'm going to say Dan finally outcoaches Gary...27-19 Cyclones

The Iowa, Nebraska, Tech, CU, and Mizzou games wouldn't surprise me either way; so we have the potential to go between 10-2 and 5-7. I have been a Cyclone fan way too long to set myself up for disappointment. I'll stick with 7-5, a .500 conference record, and a bowl game comparable to last years (Sun or Insight).

GO CYCLONES!!!

Toledo: W, look out for fireworks. Toledo is underrated probably, but at the same time, they lost their best players. Welcome to the big time, honey. 35-9

UNLV: W, these guys might be worse than UNI. 45-12

Iowa: W, give me one good reason (Kinnick doesn't scare us) that they are better. We both lose alot on defense and return a lot of offense. The difference is that Drew Tate has no proven receivers. Bret Meyer does. 35-28

Texas: L, No way in hell. Even with out their top running back, this team is still a top 5 team, and we're at their house. If we win, I will run from Jack Trice to Lake LaVerne naked, and then jump in. However, we will play well. 28-17

UNI: W, we blow off some steam and tune up for the most important game of the season. 38-10

Nebraska: W, revenge is soooo sweet. The Jack is rocking, and we hit on all cylinders. 38-30

Okie: L, we give 'em hell, but a man by the name of Peterson is just too much. We take a lead into half time, but can't sustain. 35-30

Tech: W, look for Big 12 passing yards in a game record to fall. In the end I take our returning talent and pumped home crowd over their playstation offense. 50-45

K-State: L, Two words: Dan McCarney. With an oppurtunity to make a statement, we waltz into Manhattan and piss all over ourselves. "Well, I have to give my hats off to the Wildcats. They are a very talented team and they just wanted it more than we did." As j4state and I walk out of the stadium drunk and sad, the KSU students will storm the field celebrating the first conference win of the Prince era. 21-17

Kansas: W, Revenge. This will be U-G-L-Y. 38-3

Colorado: W, I just don't think this team is going to be that good next year, with a new system and their best offensive players gone. 28-10

Mizzou: L, five words: Dan McCarney plus Bret Culbertson. With these two guys you could bet your children's life on them blowing the North title game in front of a sold out home crowd. An unheralded Mizzou player makes a play giving them a one-point lead with 1:00 left. After a bomb to Blythe, which goes for a touchdown, is ruled (incorrectly) that he stepped out of bounds at the 10, we try 3 straight HB draws, and then culby misses a chip shot, and we lose the north. Thanks guys. "They played hard, I guess they just wanted it more than we did." I also feel that Mizzou will be out of bowl contention at this point, and their only motivation in this game will be to be spoiler. 31-30

There it is 8-4, and no north title. I hope it works out better, but it probably won't.
I still love my Clones, though!

this is jsut ****** stupid, i think im on the wrong website, you guys always act so hyped up and so optimistic and then when the season starts you guys pic us to lose to iowa, I jsut cant believe some of you guys are cyclone fans, 7-5? With the offense we have, thats crazy, our defensive line will be fine moorehead, big play curvey,im betting they can carry the load.

Toledo:W-holy toledo

UNLV:W-Who?

Iowa:W-Who? We win but since were in almighty kinnick the hardest place to play ever, even though we woulda won the last time we were there if we had a place kicker, we olny win by two touchdowns this year

Texas:L-we will come out strong and make it competitive but they will win by 10

UNI:W-Austin Flynn has 500 all purpose yards in huge 67 to -32 win

Neb.W-They cant win at the jack

Oklahoma W-The musical is better then there team we win on brett culbertson 41 yarder.

T Tech. L- this is our awakening game, where we come up lazy and overconfident and get beat by 10 despite a late game rally.

K state-W Bill Snyders gone, terrence newmens gone, derren sprolls is gone, and kansas states football program is well gone.

Kansas-W This is a shockingly close game, where again we come out slow but come back in the 4th and win by 10.

Colorado-W After a late night at the local gentlemens club the CU team comes in and gets stripped of there pride 35-7.

Mizzou-W After a early missouri touchdown, culbertson makes a feild goal from 45,33,38,41,and 39 to win the game 15-7 by himself and is carried of the feild by Brett Meyer.

Big 12 championship game vs texas: We come out and take a 17-7 lead but lose on a feild goal 23-20, leaving me in the hospital with a mild heart attack making me miss our win at the cotton bowl.

11-3 < thats worse case scenerio

Props to you for being optimistic...and I hope we go that direction....but show some class with your email. If not, there's always other websites that would be back-flipping for your word stylings.

I agree with the 7-5, 8-4 record, I stated in a earlier post that I think they should go 9-3 EVERY YEAR.. But they lose games that in my opinion they should have won. ( Remember, they were lucky to beat Army. Baylor was better last year, but the Clones should NEVER LOSE AT HOME TO BAYLOR... The Missouri game was horrible as was Kansas but then they beat Texas A&M on the road and beat CU -which I was happy with...Coach Mac has some good coaches in place, let these Offensive people throw to these killer receivers, which will open up the run, The Defense will be interesting with some stud people gone, and if the kicking is bad-somebody needs to be down-the-road motors....Hitman

My take:

Toledo(1-0): Close win

UNLV(2-0): Good solid win

Iowa(2-1): Bad loss. I just don't see how you are going to stop them with your defense.

Texas(2-2): Really bad loss. Texas is the most talented team in the Big XII.

UNI(3-2): Big win

Nebraska(3-3): ISU is starting to get nicked up with minor injuries, no depth = 10 point loss.

Oklahoma(3-4): Loss. Too much Adrian Peterson.

Texas Tech(3-5): Close loss. Not enough D to keep up with tech.

Kansas State(4-5): Good win

Kansas(5-5): Good win

Colorado(5-6): Close loss. Hawkins offense is starting to come around.

Missouri(5-7): Close loss.

5-7 and no bowl game. Good luck this year.

I am not going to try and belittle you. I give you props for spending as much time on a rivals site as you do. But you say we don't have enough depth. You don't say where our injuries are. Our offense is loaded at WR, decent depth at RB and O-line. Honestly, I think we have alot of guys at the same talent. They may not be as talented as past, but they are very very athletic. I think we will be fine after the Texas game. It will show our young defense what the top looks like, and knowing what Mac and Skladany have done in the past, our defense will get better as we go along. You also have to remember, Stevie Hicks will probably be healthy...probably because you never know with any athletes...we could have a very explosive offense to keep games close, and if things bounce our way all of a sudden we have a win. You are acting like we have a Division 2 or 3 defense. We don't. I think our guys will surprise alot of people around the country this year. Good Luck for the year. I could see us finishing in a lot of scenarios, but the most probable is 7-5 or 8-4. I am not going to predict for sure because there are alot of coin flip games...Iowa, Nebraska, TT, CU.

I also think people are giving Iowa a little too much credit as well. I think they will be good, but they loose TWO of the best linebackers in the country along with Antwan Allen and Jovon Johnson who were decent corners. Their defense is not going to be stacked early on in the year as it will be at the end of the year. Offensively, they lost a couple linemen I believe, one being Ferentz's son, but they lost their recivers. When Calvin Davis is your most experienced returning reciever, your passing game will struggle. Albert Young is good, but when there are 8-9 guys in the box, it will be tough running on a speedy defense. They return a decent amount, but they lost some very key players. You are going to be breaking in two full time corner backs against big speedy recievers. Two new line backers who will have to go out on coverage or spy Meyer. Ferentz will have them ready, but not like they will be at the end of the year. He is a good coach, they will end well like they always do, but early it might be rough for them.

I think 8-4 is a reasonable guess but I'm not so sure we'll entirely sweep the North. We have a lot of games that could go either way but I see us beating Toledo, UNLV, Iowa (close game and I just can't pick the Hawks to win even if they do have a stronger team on paper), UNI, Texas Tech, Kansas, Colorado, and Missouri. That would put our losses with Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Kansas State. Obviously, we could win some of those games I picked us to lose and lose some of the games I picked us to win, but I can definitely see us going 8-4 with our offense (provided we have a solid and dependable running game) and a young defense, but one that gets better as the season goes.

Quote me - Piece of Cake for ISU to beat NU this year. Zac does not play well in a wind tunnel. Cory is gone. And our linebackers are faster than last year. And the intro music will be magnificent. Now NE probably win the North, but the Clones will need the win worse than the hyped visitors. Count me in for the win against NE. Piece of cake.

Predictions are fun, and I am an optimist as well, but some things just make me laugh out loud.

Texas a depleted team? Sure they lose the best player in college football, but look at their recruiting classes and incoming talent every year. Some of their 2nd string players are better than some of our starters. To say we can match up with that talent losing all the seniors and other losses we have (Berryman, Robertson) is absurd. Throw in a rowdy Austin crowd, and you have the makings for a blowout.

In college football, winning on the road is extremely difficult. We play at Texas, OU, Iowa, and Colorado.

DM has yet to prove he can win on the road (anyone know his road record?) so I see these as losses, as all were bowl teams last year and were ranked at one point.

There are very winnable games too, like UNLV, Toledo, UNI, Mizzou, and Kansas.

That leaves 3 make or break games, KState, TTech, and Nebraska. They could all go either way.

I think we can beat KSU, and I say we split with the other 2 teams. That leaves us at 7-5, and going to another minor bowl. With the schedule we play this year, I will take it. I guess I could say 10-2, but that would be a prayer, not a true prediction.

Why is a team with the best QB, WR, DT, CB, and highly rated players at other positions in the Big 12 getting so little respect from there own fans. You can bet fans from Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma, and Iowa are not bagging on their team like this. Guess what fellas ISU will be good this year. We don't just have Seneca or Troy we got a bunch of great players that are juniors and seniors. The defense was great last year it will be good this year. Even at are so called weakest positions we have more talent than in along time. Have faith we are better than Iowa, Nebraska and Texas Tech and as good as Texas and Oklahoma. Now I'm not saying we won't lose a game or two, but man hope for the best like Nebraska fans are doing. I believe in this years teams more than any other.

14-0 WHY NOT I'VE GOT NOTHING TO LOSE

I believe this team will win eight plus games. We return everything on offense and I believe that we will be able to run the ball this year. Hicks has run for 1000+ yards before and we have other backs to turn to if needed. We could always ram the kock in on more than just goaline situations as well. The O-Line will be better than last year and Stephenson and Brant will be all-conference. We should have one of the more devasting passing attacks in the nation with Meyer and his bevy of talented receivers. This is the year Meyer goes from being good, to being great.

On Defense the position that scares me the most is the D-tackle opposite Curvey. If we can find a player to be average in that spot our defense should shine. Curvey is one of the best and Moorehead is as solid as they come. The other D-end be it Taylor or Eboh, etc. should find a way to be average and Eboh might even be special. The backers will be as fast and athletic as ever. The lack of size throughout the defense will hurt, but speed equals big plays, turnovers, sacks, etc. The d-backs will be better than expected. Jackson probably wont be thrown at much and Singleton is athletic and fast as anyone on the team. Banks is a big fast body and James Smith looks to be something special.

Hopefully Culbertson can make a clutch kick. Surely we will play in some tight games this year where three points will be the difference.

Obviously I am optomistic looking through my cardinal and gold glasses, but I think this is a good team and maybe the fastest and most athletic team ever to take the field for ISU.
