The Okie State game is one of my favorite games I was never at. I was married that day in Ames, wedding party rode the fire truck from the Ames Methodist church to Hunky Dory's. Hickory Park food. Stayed at Country Inn and Suites there off 30 that had a personal hot tub in our room. The week prior, Oct. 7th, it snowed for the kNu game, but in Ames on Oct. 14th? Sunny and 70!
The topper, sitting in the hot tub with my new bride listening to that game on the radio. I still get grief about that from her today. But she says it with a little smile. We had five wins and one loss after that game and a few days later we were in Cancun soaking up the sun. Two months later enjoying Phoenix with 35,000 of my closest friends and my new bride. That was a great year to be a Cyclone.
Last night, sitting in the stadium watching the scoreboard go in place, I couldn't help to reminisce what it was like before all of this. And thinking that God was on our side, with the weather. When is the last time you can remember more perfect weather and no wind in Jack Trice? That was no fluke my friends.
It's a new day Cyclone Fans!!! We will arrive under this group!
